Panasonic's new version of HPX300

What's "ultra luminance technology"? Is this 3MOS or CCD? The specs do seem more like a 3700, but leaving off a 0 in the ad is a pretty big oversight.
Also playing up a studio config. is not something that was featured in the 300 ads. With Sony set to introduce their EX3 replacement on the same day as Panasonic's formal announcement of the 370, I can't wait 'til the 5th.

ULT might be a quick name replacement for 3MOS which has been dragged through the dirt a bit or maybe its 3MOS with ULT. Whatever it is, I hope its awesome. I have been considering a ex1R for a second as LOWLIGHT shooter but would much rather stick with Panasonic. As a photographer I'm also hoping to see some sort of new hybrid Canon thats more video camera than still but will use my EOS lenses and have a sensor size like my 5DMKii. I love new tech, it makes me work that much harder to afford it. There has to be a 12 step program for people like me.

I've noticed a bunch of rebates on the 300 lately, and a couple of the smaller distributors trying to dump a few of them for a few hundred more. Perhaps they are already informed about the 370 as a replacement for the 300...?

Fujinon also releases two new 1/3" lenses on NAB 2010.

The new XT17sx4.5BRM is 1/3-inch ENG-Style lens that also features the newly designed ergonomic digital servo with Quick Zoom Cruise Zoom and one second zoom speed. New glass properties minimize color fringing, and a new EBC optical coating improves transmission within this lens as well. The XT17sx is best suited for use by wedding, house of worship and corporate video productions. The XT17sx4.5 is available at the end of April.

The XT20sx4.7BRM is also a cost-efficient ENG-Style zoom lens designed for 1/3-inch cameras, featuring a 20x zoom range; high-optical quality; fast, quiet and precise servo zoom and focus. It is designed for use by wedding, house of worship and corporate video productions. This lens features a focal length of 4.7mm up to a maximum of 94mm. It has a maximum relative aperture at 1:1.4 from 4.7mm to 87.7mm and 1:1.5 at 94mm. It also comes standard with Fujinon’s Inner Focus technology. The XT20sx4.7 is available at the end of July.

Too bad I don't work in wedding, house of worship and corporate video. I guess those lenses aren't for me.

Same happened to the 500, 2700 and 3700 last year but they haven't been updated either!

My money's still on a 600/601:happy:

It'd be great if panasonic would give you the option of buying the 370 without the lens so you could mount your favorite. I think JVC does this with the HM700.

Gone. The DV advertiser index still has Panasonic on page 2. This is getting too funny. As detailed on this thread, this is the 3rd time Panasonic has gone back to cover its tracks by having references to the 370 removed. It's just so hard to keep a secret these days.

Hopefully the OP photojournalist is safe, but we haven't heard from him in a while. Hmmmm.

Been playing around....

Yes, but thanks for asking. All is good. Been busy...trying other new things. And, for those thinking an extra 0 or different number etc... No, there is no mistake. Read my first post. Some of you will have one in your hands in a month. Don't get me wrong I like the camera but, I prefer a true b/w viewfinder. But, many will like the camera. April 5th is around the corner.

I just spoke with one of my vendors today and they are out of 300's and will not be getting any more. They have been told there will be a new camera but he has no name or pricing as of yet. Sounds like a 300 replacement not a 500 replacement.

I'm really happy with Panasonic's color HD viewfinders. "Good old", to me, would be film-style optical viewfinders, are color, not the cobbled together black and white stop-gap eyepieces from early ENG shoulder-mount and Beta.

No pricing mentioned?

It is interesting, because I saw the 300 being sold for as low as $7495.00 last year.

The EVS website listing for the 370 which was up for maybe one day before being removed, had the list price at $9995. I think there might be a strong psychological & marketing reason to keep it under $10k. Just don't expect the "clear off the shelves" rebate or giveaways at first.

I think the price will come down once the camera becomes available. My guess is it will be very close to the pre-clearance price of the 300.

Based on what we know, and whatever sleigh of hand advertising has occurred, how does this new cam differ from the AG-HPX300?

All I've seen is "sensitivity and signal-to-noise ratios of larger imagers." Does this differ than the existing model?
