panasonic spare parts rumor

It means DVXusers are headed for a disaster of biblical proportions. What do I mean, "biblical"? What I mean is Old Testament, jdajda, real wrath-of-God type stuff. Exactly. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. Rivers and seas boiling. Forty years of darkness. Earthquakes, volcanoes... The dead rising from the grave. Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria.

that is if the Paris Hilton buying and liquidating Panasonic U.S. rumors are true ... otherwise never mind :)

Surfshooter--It's bad enough that you're spreading misinformation, but confronted with the truth, you start insulting us and lying to boot? We were tolerant about leaving this thread even though I had to change the title from "panasonic to discontinue all spare parts for dvx"--a real disservice to the people on this board. Your conspiracy theories are ridiculous, untrue, and insulting. We've always provided the best, most accurate information on the DVX and we have no connection to Panasonic. I think it's time you packed your bags.

Sheesh you would think I would know better by now. Next time I have a question Jan Ill just PM.

yeah but JDS will I still be able to get a dvx?? I mean the wrath of god is one thing, but panasonic discontinuing my camera!!?!

well Jan is it going to cost a small fortune to get the DVX100 fixed now?

No. And keep in mind, this was about the AG-DVX100s and the DVX100A, the Bs are still in current production.

Speaking of DVX100's,,,how long does it take to ship them here? How are they coming? Library rate? A really slow boat? Have they left japan yet?

Believe it not, we actually do know how to ship UPS from Japan. The product goes through customs in Japan and is shipped directly to the dealer.

Best,

Jan

If you have the DVX100 or the DVX100A, then it really should be of no surprise that these cameras have been discontinued. I mean really. The DVX100B is under current production and I do not see it being discontined at all.

The PCB Board issue is only about the cameras that have been off of the production line for more than a year, the DVX00A went out of production in August of 2005. The boards are in general not the part that goes bad, it is a part that is on those boards. We have a specialized service within our service netwok that is able to repair these boards here stateside and we have a small supply for swap out for those that do come in. Those bad boards are swapped out with that supply and then are repaired and returned to the supply.

Anyhow there is no real problem in this at all it is just working the scenario in a different manner.

Best,

Jan

Hi Jan,

Are you saying Panasonic DOES have a board refurbishing plan available for the DVX 100 series? From my understanding that was not an option as Panasonic does not offer that service for DVX cameras.

Please correct me if I'm wrong and supply me with the contact information to access this service.

I'm also confused about something else. Your remarks may lead some to think there is only one PCB in a DVX camera. I've been inside and seen with my own eyes there are more than just one. Since we are dealing with information that is important and we all want to be clear...is only one of the PCB boards being discontinued or are all of them inside the camera discontinued?

Thanks for helping us understand the depth of this issue.

We do it internall. It is not something you access, it is something we do. You send in your camera and we will serivice it. It is not something that you will be able to service yourself. Sorry.

At the end of a run of cameras the factory does one more run on parts. When those pcb boards are out, they go to board level repair. There are more than one board inside the camera and I don't believe that all boards are gone, just the more used ones, but as I said, we recirulate boards internally. These are not like the DVCPRO board swap types of programs, as we do this strictly on the internal level. These boards would never see the parts department.

I really hope this ends this thread,

Jan

...

Hahah, Jan. I think jdajda was kidding in response to me poking some tongue and cheek fun at the folks who were freaking out about this as if it were the apocalypse.

I know you have a legit interest in getting real information out there. With that in mind, sorry if I confused things by teasing the chicken littles a bit. I will shuddup now. :lipsrseal :)
