GH5 Panasonic S1H

Internal 5.9k at 16:9 up to 30p.

10 bit 422 up to 4k 60p.

New images show a flip out screen and some type of vents. Kind of a big deal

It's a GH5 with a FF sensor (and a fan!) at slightly less than 3X price. A real bargain! ;)

The new Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Summilux 10-25mm f/1.7 ASPH. Lens is $1,797.99 and the closest full frame L mount zoom is the Leica Super-Vario-Elmar-SL 16-35mm f/3.5-4.5 ASPH. Lens that is $5,495 !

Well it's more of a FF GH5s with more dynamic range, a full LOG profile, potentially better low light, and from Griffon Hammond's ISO tests with the S1, the S1H should produce a slightly more refined image. ( I don't know if I would call it more detail, but it's better looking detail than the GH5s, which already looks great )

how does the lens mount work on this? L? Can my "full frame" Rokinon EF lenses mount on it with cheap adapter? 14 DR is approaching BlackMagic territory

It seems like there aren't any manual EF adapters out there right now (maybe you can find something from China).

The most common is the Sigma for $249:

There are a bunch of other L-mount adapters (including Nikon), but for some reason manual EF ones from popular companies aren't currently available.

EDIT: This one popped up which I didn't see a few days ago: https://www.amazon.com/Haoge-Manual...nt+EF+adapter&qid=1559583244&s=gateway&sr=8-3

ok, so is this new camera mount an L mount? Sorry, I don't understand various camera mounting options. nto sure what I am talking about. :D

... i see a bunch of cheap ones on Amazon (GWYPF of course)....

Yes, it's a L-mount. A lot of them on Amazon say M-mount to EF, so make sure you read carefully.

But if it's the right connection, they all will do the job (probably with some play here and there from various units).

Sigma is an official partner in the L-mount alliance, $250 isn't too much. If you're this early in the game I'd go with that until there's some better proven options out there.

The benefit of L mount is much like the benefit of m43 - short flange distance, you can adapt almost anything. Well, in theory. Before April 4, this was a Leica only mount so only a handful of adapters were out there. But I suspect this will grow rapidly in the coming year now that Panasonic has 3 models out and Sigma will follow soon with their camera.

I suppose it's a GH5 for 3x the price... but it's also a stripped down EVA1 for significantly less. The GH5 XLR adapter works on it.

If you don't need 4k 60p 10-bit 422 internal, the S1 is basically the same thing with firmware update. I'll likely be selling mine here in the fall time to move to the S1H.

Yea, I mentioned on the last page there are a bunch, but still only 2 for EF from that particular B&H list (including the Sigma one).

Yeah, sorry for the lack of clarity. I was just referring to only a handful of adapters for EF / or options for mounts. Most of those are Novoflex which is fine but they're really expensive for being old dumb adapters. I would expect to see fotodiox, metabones, and others get in on the action soon.

I have also had a hard time as an early adopter finding rear lens and body caps. The other week some popped up on ebay (non Leica) for $8 per cap, yikes. Much better than $40 a cap for rear/body caps. I expect we'll see an influx of those shortly, too, when you can buy a 4 pack of rear and body caps for $8.

Damn... here, I was all set to go full Sony after my horrible durability and repair experiences with the GH4 and 12-35, but... DAMN.

why "H"? Seriously. What the heck would the H mean in the name?

should have been: 6V

Why "6"? Or "V"? What the heck could those mean in the name?

Video? Why not GH5V then?

Is it five? So this is the fifth version of camera 6?

Or does this one specifically take 6V batteries?

What's GH?

And S?

:2vrolijk_08:

If you question one Japanese camera name then you'll have to question all of them.

Apparently Panasonic's response to the H was:

"Panasonic has said the 'H' in the name represents the same qualities as the one in the GH models: a stills/video hybrid with high quality. And, if we look at the specifications, there's a lot of overlap with the capabilities of the company's GH5."
