Compact Flash is also pretty rugged.. And much cheaper! Panasonic should ditch the P2 cards and make all their cameras Compact Flash compatible.
Why do you want recording on P2 cards? They are very expensive!
Without going into engineering (because I'm not an engineer) P2 is absolutely bullet proof. Period. CF and SDHC aren't.
why can't there be 1 camera to rule them all... :kali: :nads:
No, they're not (at least compared to P2). I've never heard of someone losing footage from P2 because their card crapped out. I've heard of plenty of people that their SD card died in the middle of a shoot or the pins on their CF card broke in camera or something like that.
Maybe you should tell RED about this so they can ditch those crappy CF cards and switch to P2.

Some SSDs will work, but they need repacking to a connector with better mechanics. Many companies gross millions on their vendor specific media, so I doubt they would switch to something based on SATA.
Red is doing that for their new cameras, putting on their own connector and everything.
It will likely be the same as on the HMC150, HMC40, HMC80 AVCCAM cameras. I don't know whether it will have a higher bitrate or not; the HMC150/40/80 already max out what AVCCAM can do.So is this going to be the same implementation of AVCHD codec as whats on the HCM150, only with a higher bitrate?
Only thing we've heard is by the end of the year. Also what's the expected in-stores date now? December or before?
