That image has been scaled down quite a bit. I don't know if there's stairstepping in the original footage or not, but it's not fair to judge off an 800-pixel-wide frame when the original footage might have been 1920-wide (or at least 1280 wide). There seems to be some aliasing + stair stepping in the night shot
Also, only "HD" lenses will autofocus in video, so far there is only one; the new 14-140mm.
Wait until you see the 720p. It'll knock your socks off. You won't believe that 720p can look that good, but it does.Wow, That wide convention hall shot is full of detail, I wasnt expecting that much from the avchd codec at that bit rate.
Okay, this shot is totally out of focus and generally horrible, but there's lots of angles. No stairstepping.
These are all 1920x1080 frames. If you're scaling it down to smaller than 1920x1080, stuff might happen, but at the original frame size right off the camera head, it looks like there's no aliasing/stairstepping.

And we don't really know what image settings (shutter speed, sharpening, color sets etc.) are part of this yet.
The real gamechanger perhaps?
Thats the beauty of this camera. It apparently shares basically all the creative functions of the still side. l
