Panasonic Removable Lens Four Thirds HD AVCHD Camera

I'm not looking at any more store or sad 80's footage. When there's something worth looking at let me know. Give the guy in the store a GH1, a D90, and a Panavision and the result will be the same.

And what can we learn from Rick's video boys and girls? You can shoot mediocrity with a $100K camera/lens package, and the stuff will look... mediocre. Up to you to shoot killer stuff with a $1K DSLR by having great stuff in front of it. Not store stuff. Boo!

The camera came out in tokyo today. I checked it out at Yodobashi Camera in Shinjuku.

The Japanese version doesnt have english menu capability so I couldnt play around with manual settings etc. First thing I noticed, even zoomed in and whip panning, there seems to be no cmos jelly-vision/ rolling shutter skew at all. Is this a cmos global shutter first? Unfortunately i didnt have a SD card to shoot footage onto and share. The instore 20" LCD display showing footage looked good but who knows. Will try and get a hold of a card to shoot some stuff onto this weekend. The lack of rolling shutter has got me intrigued. Anyone know what details on this Mos sensor are ?

The form factor is nice, the ability to swing the lcd out and to the right side makes it easier to balance, frame and shoot, for me anyway.

The footage I shot is 1080/24p; I'm in the charlotte airport but when I get back I'll check it out on my HDTV and see if any is worth posting. It was all handheld and shot in the booth.

From the limited playback I can get on the laptop, about 20fps downconverted to 1280x720, it looks super-crisp and no noise.

It would be a combination of two things, the optical image stabilizer in the kit lens and the processing power of the venus engine.

GO BARRY! Post it, post it, post it, post it!!!

I added the Canon 5D to my B&H shopping cart last night, but never got around to pressing the "purchase" button. This camera has put me back on the fence!

Jello seems to be less than what the D90 produces, but the blowouts are looking very panasonic like. The D90 still seems to produce those nicer hilights, but im almost willing to bend towards the panasonic if it is really only a 1.2x crop factor and has improved jello!
