Panasonic Removable Lens Four Thirds HD AVCHD Camera

Good grief. The only stuff we get is of some guy who can't even figure the damned thing out.

UGH. But Barry's words are inspiring. Hunter and I will have quite a time trying to figure out menus. LoL.

id kill to have the cash right now... stick with buying a laptop for now :(

the quality is pretty good on that clip despite being motion jpeg!

im getting jello though!

That guy is whip panning like a maniac and at what looks like full telephoto. Of course there's gonna be some jello.

However, there's also some telephoto shots handheld where the jello isn't noticeable. This is gonna be pretty useable handheld. Sweet.

Gotta agree. I'm seeing very little jello visiion, and this dude's handheld is worse than my own.

Ugh. Someone with skillz please grab this thing. I don't even know if I can wait til Monday.

So when is the US release date? I think you said 'one day after Japan''s release, but it looks like BHphoto is saying June.

Did you mean one month?

Kholi, will they have the option to pick English for the menu language or are you going to have to navigate through it in Japanese?

5dmkII almost 3k$
gh1 1.5k$

i think panny is notorious with being able to do a lot with less than the competitors. if anything, gh1 is just gonna be something REALLY fun to have, at a incredible price point. i'm saving up for one, it's tiny so u can just run around with it, 5d is huge, and u can get some good looking video off it with really organic looking stills.

i think it's gonna be a great camera.

Hunter is right, it won't. I researched this and Pana isn't the only one doing away with English menus in their new hardware. It's either an effort to curtail the Grey Market or to put emphasis on purchasing Cameras in the US or so for inernational useage. They're more expensive that way.

It's cool, I have some Japanese friends that I hang with that'll translate for me. Also, Hunter has links to the GH-1 manuals online, I plugged the web link into the Google Translator and it did the work for me.

So yeah, it'll be a little hairy but I've beaten video games in all Japanese without knowing a DAMNED thing about what I was doing.

IN fact, the first time I played Super Mario 64 it was in japanese and that was BEFORE the internet was such a huge thing. So I had to use my intuition to play the game and I beat the damned thing in a week. Still didn't know what was going on until several months later when the US Nintendo 64 came out.

It was one of the most rewarding gaming experiences I've ever had.

You can get two GH-1's WITH lenses for the price of one MKii. Double Coverage. Creative Coverage at that.

Listen guys, Barry's seen the footage. his reaction, although a bit premature, is very promising. If this pans out how I think it is, it'll be the real next DVX. The real game changer.

It's not just that it's a camera with interchangeable lenses, but it's boasting some sweet-ass extras along with it.

Just think of the movies that were shot with the DVX with NO adapter?

November?

What about the XL-1 and XL-H1 features? 28 Days later and The Signal?

Can you imagine what these guys would have done with the GH-1? And I say the GH-1 because it's the first to really be built on the Video function, not an after thought.

So yeah, there's reason to be stoked as hell. Even if it comes up a little short here or there, it's really the beginning of something that promises to obliterate the line.

Yeah, one thing that I found promising whenever we saw Panasonic reps being interviewed about the camera is that they didn't stress that the video was "one feature of many" like the Canon folks did with the 5d.

Panasonic seems to be pushing the video as a major element of this camera, a major selling point, as well they should.

We saw those. I think it's time to make a GH-1 sub forum. Although I guess it's fair to wait on some of our own users to grab the camera before it pops up.

I'm chompin' at the bit!!!
