Panasonic GH5 is here... I think...

I know, it's got all the makings of being "rick rolled," but this guy seems to serious for that stuff (maybe that's the best kind for an Aprils fool prank).

This post wins first place for the most feeble, weak pathetic boring tiresome April 1st joke yet. But the day is young.

The biggest mistake for me was the ISO 800 vs ISO 12,800 sample images. The images are identical, with the ISO 12,800 having its brightness level upped a little. He could have at least waited for the rowers to change position/exit frame before taking the supposed ISO 12,800 image..

Simon you beat me to it. Even the wake from the canoe is in exactly the same spot giving away the fact that it is actually the same photo.

Plus he went into way too much detail. No first-release article ever has that much info.

Can't believe I fell for it. I knew it in my head, but my heart was reaching for the credit card. I knew the 12,800 iso and 12 bit 4:2:2 was the deal breaker. I shall unclog my nose in his general direction!

Yes, this is just a bit of April fun. Sometimes we just need to have a laugh at our interest in future cameras when the ones we have are already so amazing :)

Consider this a wishlist of features I hope to see when the GH5 is eventually released. Other camera manufacturers are free to take this and run with it as well :)

P.S. I'm glad the fact that both frame grabs were exactly the same image did not go unnoticed ;)

Sol, I trusted you with my very heart and soul. I knew there was a possibility on this day, but as a new to me GH4 owner - you are my guide, my safe haven of knowledge and I was your padiwon. Now, I must find another. I can never trust you again!

Unless...

You trust me this one time. Make it right with the universe and just click on this link to see puppies playing in fields of dandelions with young Russian swimsuit models chasing them:

Ergonomics aside, if you threw nd filters in the body it would be the perfect camera on paper.

The page was full of clues of being fake. Like when it mentioned today as being April 13th. Also this guy would be under a serious NDA and would never be able to be the first one to break this story if he was a tester or contributed in any way to the camera. Remember those who really do know the answer can never say until the company says it is happening.

There are also slight imperfections in some of the design work on the page. Close enough to fool many people but little imperfections to stand out as a joke.

Finally if this camera was coming out today and could be ordered today a blog is the last place you would have heard about it. The stores would have been all over that promoting the heck out of the camera considering how much of a big seller a camera like this would be.

This was an attempt to pull a prank that could be considered believable. Really the best kind of a prank since it isn't obvious to many people that it is in fact a prank. The goofier pranks are funny but since they don't really fool anybody they are not really pranks.

Agreed. This article lays out everything I would need in a camera: High ISO performance, 4:2:2 12bit 4K 60p internal recording. Add ND filters and a global shutter and it's game over.

Of course, a camera like that would likely cost $15,000. But one can dream...
