Or they could make it an AF100 type body, with a swappable PL or Leica mount, 4K in a similar s35 crop or, for the higher end uses, an oversampled 4K from 17.6 MPX and full frame/Vista Vision manual lenses. Add a compressed Raw internal recording onto a P2 card and there's your sub-$10,000 version of F65.

Looking at the competition, FS7 does Raw externally for about $12,000. I figure FS5 might come in at around $8,000-$9,000 (whenever the Raw upgrade and its pricing are announced). Panasonic should be right in the thick of things here.
 
The YAGH price has been lowered down to $500.

This is one of those instances where the casual user was ahead of the marketing department.

$500? I'm a little slow here. Is this a fact or a rickroll? Link, please? Also GH newby - Shogun specs say DCI 4K 4096, 4 2 2, but I was led to believe that the GH4 can only shoot UHD 4 2 2 when paired with a Shogun. True or can the GH4 do 4 22 and 4096 to the Shogun? Can someone set me straight, please. Thanks.

Interesting - it shows $499 on the 43Rumor page from yesterday but, when you click on the B&H link, it's back up to a grand (it was $1,700 on release, IIRC). Adorama's back up to a grand too but Amazon's are as low as $600

UGHH!

I really expect/hope for better from Panasonic. The JVC came out much sooner and trumps the DVX200 in every way.

To start with the GH5 needs better low light performance than the DVX200.

It needs clean 1080P120 in low light to beat out the A7sII.

It needs to keep the MFT interchangeable mount and come out with some Cine lens.

If the Pro model was in a CamCorder body I would pay $5k, but it would have to focus and shoot in poor/low light with clean 6400-8000 ISO.

The larger APS-C or s35 Sensor can collect more light and take advantage of lens with larger image circles (bigger glass).
Thus letting in more light and allowing the full use of Cine lens such as those made by Rokinon and others.
JVC has demonstrated that the MFT mount can still be used with larger Sensor.

If they can produce clean 4k60P and 1080P120 in low light with a new MFT Sensor, that would be acceptable to me, but I doubt they will produce clean ISO 8000 anytime soon with such a small Sensor unless it is only 12MP and much more optimized for Video.

If it gets a BSI sensor, it will get a better low light performance but, at least, one can mount a focal reducer and a fast prime on it. High Frame Rate is anyone's guess, as it obviously depends on the buffer size, which in turn depends on the willingness of the company to include a given amount of memory at whatever price point it will happen to be. And speaking of price points, A7SII's should remain considerably above GH5's. And, finally, I seriously doubt Panasonic is going high end cinema with the GH line. I suppose that, if there's a potential full frame DSLR or camcorder similar to the new Leica full frame, then Panasonic will also deploy the Leica mount there and make a series of the higher grade lenses for that (meaning, they'll re-badge the Leica pieces).

Looking at the positives, it seems like GX8 is getting pretty nice reviews everywhere and it's possible that GH5 will copy a lot of the electronics from it.
 
Coming back to what I'd like to see in a GH5, honestly for me all I really need is lower noise when shooting at higher ISO. If they can make ISO 3200 look like what ISO 800 looks like on the GH4, I'd be thrilled. Even if that were the only improvement and everything else stayed the same as on the GH4, it would make me want to buy a GH5.
