Panasonic Gh2 and Af-100 in german

Hi there,

I really don´t understand, why you guys are frustrated about the result of a test-chart comparision!

If you have the AF100 in your hand - do some real-world shoots......and.....you will realize very quickly, that this Camcorder provides a "REAL" user, nearly everything he could wish for:

a really robust codec / 24MBits in ALL Modes / over 35 MBits in VFR / 1080p24 / 25p / 1080p60 - 1080p60 and....and.....and...............the framerates are absolutly essential 4 professional work!

and to come back to the charts....in my real world tests I discovered, that the aliasing/moiree behavior of this BIG-SENSOR Cam is absolutely wonderful - especially if you were punished with the 5D´s moiree and aliasing!

You can adjust in the AF´s menu nearly EVERYTHING in the settings - including detail ETC -

the video-processing in the GH2 is so far optimised, to give a nice look out of the box - the AF100 is like a very fresh beef-filet, that can be prepared to a paradise meal!

If you own the AF101 - believe me.....it´s an absolutely goooooooood deal - you don´t have to regret ANYTHING about that investigation!

Wish you guys the best - and see you in the hereafter!

The painting is beautiful - not my view

I buy two GH2 and no AF100

If the GH2 would support 1080p25 (and 1080p50) - then I, as a european, would do the same choice....but.....as mentioned, that is (still) not the case....maybe until Vitaly and the Testa-Crew come in with a hack, that will "maybe" revolutionize the Industry!

24p is worldstandard ;) - no problem

Hmmm....in a 50Hz european world? Might be problematic. For the Web it might be okay - but if you really need a television or DVD standard, the workaround doesn´t attract.

Since Hollywood films have been shot at 24 fps, and those have been presented on 25 PAL/SECAM broadcasts for years, by speeding up the frame rate by 4%... it may be that the marketing arm of the GH-X series didn't really 'ask for it' from engineering... I don't know but DVD, HDDVD and Bluray all have 24 fps as a media format, and players should 'do the right thing', despite any bizarre zone/regioning mandated by Hollywood distribution moguls to make it abysmal getting media throughtout the world to play 'somewhere else'...

I contemplated going the other way, shooting PAL Standard Def, at 25 fps, then I would have gotten a few more lines of vertical resolution... but as it was, the NTSC version of the DVX100 was just cheaper and obviously supported in the US for service...
