I found an ebay auction from monoprice, $135 including shipping for the HD Fury 2, so ... I'll let you know when it arrives.

Barry, sorry that I didn't answer this sooner; I didn't read this until just now. But you'll be pleased to know that the HDFury 2 does indeed work beautifully with the 7D, and it does not need an external power supply. I have one, which I bought for my 5D.Can you confirm that the HD Fury allows you to use an HDMI camera such as the 7D/GH1/HMC40 with an HD component monitor such as the BT-LH80?
It sounds like it should work, but before ordering I'd love to get a definitive confirmation.
Yep. As I was in the process of replying to your post a little while ago, I took my HDFury 2 with component outputs attached, and I connected it to my 7D and my 67" DLP HDTV. Beautiful results!Well, hot diggity! $139 beats $500, which is what I would have gotten (an HDMI->HD-SDI converter)...
I plan on using this bad boy to go from HDMI to HD-SDI on my LH-900:

The FAQs say no. What you input, is what it outputs.
Okay, a follow-up on the HD Fury II: yes, it works with the BT-LH80, and the Canon 7D even supplies power to power it.
But not enough.
I had a weird experience with it where the brightness on the signal would drop by about 10%, making nothing hit the top of my waveform monitor. I tried a few different things, and then I just decided to try plugging in the HD Fury's power supply ($1.98 at monoprice.com). The power supply solved everything.
So -- while it's technically possible to sort of use the HD Fury II powered by the 7D/HDMI cable, I recommend against it. Just get the USB power supply and use it.
