EDIT: New Extended Cut available:

So Heres what i can tell you.

We shot at an ISO of 200. Shutter off (shutter wasnt engaging to 180 so we left it)

We rolled internally to SDHC cards and then externally to a AG HPG20 recording AVC Intra 100.

Gamma was the 709 standard, Matrix HD Norm.. everything else set of 0.

We used a 24mm, 50mm and & 85mm for almost everything, Sitting at about t4 for most of it,, and wide open t1.9 on a couple of those shots. All Carl Zeiss Ultra Primes.

I did not edit this, but i'll do my best to get hold of all the footage including the AVCHD material over the next week.. because thats really want i want to see/grade, and will upload some less compressed files.

But, from what i saw in the suite, the 24mbps looked damnnn close to the avc intra with no grading.

This was shot yesterday.. cut quick and thus compressed quickly.. less uncompressed footage to come.

Enjoy.

Thanks for this.Hey Joe - can we download it please? Vimeo compression always takes alot away.

downloadable footage will be available later. That file has been slightly too compressed to Yves & my liking so we would rather you guys didnt make judgement on it.

Thanks for posting. Looks good so far and it's nice to see that you're putting the camera to some real world use for testing.
Cheers

Footage looks nice, but people always think its the cameras. As a DSLR user myself I can tell you it's all in the lenses. So with that said the combination of those lenses, camera, lighting, and of course user operated is showing the world some very nice footage.

What I like the most is the soft natural colors, looks very pleasing.

Coming from shooting with a 7D, this is very encouraging footage. The motion artifacting and jello are almost non-existant. And to be able to record that audio in camera...ahhhhhhh....

Although there's only the Vimeo clip to go from, that does look fantastic - this is the real deal! It does look like that thing is resolving a great amount of spatial resolution. It's like a DSLR without the mush (and also without the aliasing, etc).

Thank you for posting!

Definitely looking good - I look forward to seeing more footage at a higher resolution. At least we know it resolves a good 720p image :) Some raw AVCHD for download would be great, too.

And just so I understand...the footage posted here was shot on the following pieces of equipment:

AF-100 - $5000
HPG-20 - $4500
PL Mount - $?
24mm Zeiss UP - $200 Rental
50mm Zeiss UP - $200 Rental
85mm Zeiss UP - $200 Rental

Right?

Is there a differentiation between what footage went externally to AVC-Intra and what was in-camera to AVCCAM?

My Vimeo playback featured dropped video, macroblocking and huge noise in the mids, so I'm not even sure why I'm asking.

Still curious about how you experienced the two codecs before all the compression, rendering and so on.
