P2 workflow without audio

I shoot P2 cards and use either Cineform Aspect HD Link or DVCPro Encode to create avi files. These are then brought into PremPro2 or AEFX

Is it possible to "avoid" the audio files that are always created even when shooting mute. eg packshots.

Big hassle with PremPro is that it must conform the audio on first importing a clip and this is obviously pointless for a mute clip (MOS)

Ideally, like DV capturing from tape, would be the option to "capture" video only.

In the P2 import window (or Log and Transfer as it is called in FCP 6). Under the import settings tab. You can choose to import just video, or just audio as well as mix and match between the video and 4 audio tracks. You can also choose to treat them as stereo or mono tracks or both(ie, Chan 1 and 2 stereo, 3 and 4 mono). YOu can also set in and out points on the clips before importing them and choose to import just that part of the clip.

That looks great and just what I need.

I doubt that Adobe will incorporate that into next PremPro release considering . they have not even given us any mxf support at all.
 
According to the specs on Adobe's site they have had MXF support since Premiere Pro 2.

I have a personal distaste for Premiere, but it supports it.

The way to do that in Raylight is delete (or move) the audio folder before dragging the video MXF files into Premiere. If the plugin cannot find the audio track it makes the clip silent.

I will try that with DVProEncoder or Cineform Aspect HD (which I use instead of Raylight).

I suspect that PremPro will try and create pk files for the "silence" though.
