P2 Rebate Confusion

That's not necessarily true. If you paid a full 6 grand for it, sure. A lot of people bought early but only paid 5500 or even 5300. Still, can't argue with a free 8gb card. :(

Oh come on! I know some people may have got a better deal than $6000, I know I certainly did. But I was just having some fun and being a little sadistic for all the whiners out there.:Drogar-Love(DBG):

Just spoke to Veronica from Panasonic this morning following a telephone call on Monday.

Indicated that I had communicated with Jan, and Jan has clarified the rebate terms. Jan also had concurred that the web site offering the free p2 card and book or p2 card or book was a little confusing.

Veronica responded what I thought was a little defensively saying that the site was clear.

In any case, I suggested that perhaps it might be clearer if there was a link for:

1. click here for a rebate for Barry Green Book and p2 card if you purchased the HVX200 betwen October 1, 2006 and March 31, 2007;

2. Click here for a rebate for the Barry Green Book if you purchased the HVX200 betwen January 1, 2006 and March 31, 2007.

At least that is clear.

She didn't think it was necessary.

So, what is it: Door 1 or door 2?

John:

The p2 card promotion does not extend to cams purchased before Oct 1, 06 despite the apparent confusion.

Simply, it is not going to happen.

My wounds will heal. I will take it like a man! Long live the HVX.

P.S. yes I made money during those months so I won't ***** anymore.

Since some people who bought the HVX-200 last year are complaining that they aren't eligible to get a free P2 card, I wanted to clarify something:

These people ARE eligible to get the free P2 card...all they have to do is to buy an HVX-200 *now* during the *current* rebate offer, and they will get a free card too.

I'm not trying to sound mean, but geez, if you can't make $1100 to buy a P2 card with your camera over a period of several months, then maybe this camera isn't for you.

However, I do have a lot of sympathy for those who missed the rebate by just a few weeks. I'm sure good will come your way on another day.

Your argument is a little specious.

Whether we made money to buy a card over that period isn't the issue.

We had to buy the card to make the money.

As to eligibility, none of those pre October purchases are eligible. That's a given.

And obviously, a new cam purchase would make us eligible for the new purchase not the previous one.

Kinda self evident, doncha think?

Yes, I know it's self-evident. I was just pointing out that those of us who are only *now* purchasing a camera are not entitled to anything extra than anyone else...anyone who buys a camera now, gets a P2 card.

Likewise, those who purchased a camera 8 months ago, have had the luxury of using it for 8 months...I haven't had that luxury.

In any case, we all look forward to price drops.

"have had the luxury of using it for 8 months...I haven't had that luxury "

And had to buy the card.

On the same vein, you also could have purchased back in March, and had all that luxury as well.

David, are you going to be purchasing any more cards when they hopefully drop in price in May? I'm holding out for my first one until then.

How many do you have?

I'm going to be using DVRACK until then.

I have one 8GB and three 4GB cards.

We also have Scopebox, and FCP. With what and how we shoot is relative to what we shoot.

Love to see 8 GB cards at $500.00 by May or earlier. I don't really care for the 16 Gb cards due to offloading time, and backup.

Im in this boat, and would just like to add a little perspective to this.

I bought my camera in Sept. I know I sure as heck would have waited a few more WEEKS to be eligible for this promotion.

I think Panasonic should offer a 30 Price Gaurantee that would make those in the grey area eligible for the promo.

This makes sense, because they do just that when there is a price drop to make sure their vendors arent "stuck" in between with higher priced inventory. - what about consumers?

When the promo came about i was a little miffed but figured "hey thats the cost for being an early buyer"- I feel that way about anything - Like buying a dual G5 only to see quad cores come out and etc...
BUT- when i saw the offer extended PAST the original Dec 31 end date to March 31, it REALLY got under my skin.

Maybe those of us on here that bought in Sep could band together and send Panny a letter requesting such a 30 day price gaurantee. Couldnt hurt, thats for sure.

Sure hope Panasonic is listening in on this thread.

Panasonic did provide a 30 day price guarantee.

I believe the offer originated on October 31st and was retroactive to Oct 1st
