P2 Rebate Confusion

I'm confused... Until today I had been under the impression that the 8-gig P2 rebate was for puchases made between 10/1/06 through 10/31/06. I bought my HVX on 9/28 and thus all I received was the Barry book.

My dealer emailed me today with a link that seemed to imply that all purchasers between Jan 1 '06 and the end of the year were eligible for the P2 card. The web form would not accept my serial number, presumably because I had already received the Barry book.

I left a voice mail with the fulfillment house handling the rebates, but was wondering whether anyone else who purchased prior to 10/1 has received a free 8-gig card.

Here's the link.

http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webap...alogId=13051&itemId=93120&surfModel=AG-HVX200

Click on the 8 gig link and then on the HVX link. Note that the form specifies 1/1/06 as start date.

Does this mean that after spending far more than the cost of an 8 gig card in therapy to help me get over missing the cut-off by 3 days that I now can get a card? Can I get a refund from my therapist?

Happy 2007 to all...

This is a direct copy:

"Receive your special offer with the purchase of a Panasonic AG-HVX200 camera (purchase must be made between January 1 and December 31, 2006). Simply register your camera with the following online form, and your free gift will be shipped to you. Please contact our helpdesk at 866-339-4296 with any questions.

Note this offer is only valid on Authorized US product.
All requests will be validated before shipping.

No P.O. Box Numbers will be accepted."

And when I filled it out, it also said the serial number was all ready used, and it was, for Barry's book.

This is getting very frustrating.

There is so much disinformation.

I wish someone from Panasonic would clarify the offer, its terms, and why those of us who have gotten Barry's book suddenly cannot get the rebate.

I just heard back from Jan, who confirmed that the date is indeed 10/1 and she would have the typo corrected.

The up and down is enough to send me back to therapy...

Ned

Same thing here.

This is maddening at times.

Jan says it's wrong and is intended to deal just with the book.

Oh well.

Now the real issue is whether 8 Gb cards have dropped to $725.00 USD as it appears in Europe.

Well it would be too good to be true espically for all of us who had to put a deposit down and wait for months for the camera to come out.

Whats worse is all the people who had the faith to put a downpayment for a new camera are not the ones who get the bonus of a FREE 8 gig card...

Sorry to say, I was extremely lazy and only finally registered today for both the book and the 8 gig card.

I hope the system allows you guys to get the card as well. I do feel guilty for being "rewarded" for my lethargic stance.

................

No 8 gig card now? Well, at least I will get the book. Crazy Panny folks . . .

Aw, shaddup.

Hi,

I called the panasonic number listed on there website and left a message with
a Veronica Burks. I asked her if the P2 card rebate was good through March 31st or not. She emailed me the following, and i quote:

Veronica Burks" <vburks@acbcoop.com

The offer for the HVX200 camcorder has been extended until March 31,
2007.

Thanks,
Veronica

Interpret it however you wish.

It should be easy to interpret: a US customer who buys a US-authorized HVX200 from a US-authorized dealer between 10/1/2006 and 3/31/2007 will be eligible to receive a free 8GB P2 card and a free copy of The HVX Book/CD.

Barry, that is correct that the 10/1 date is the inception of the free P2 card. However, the confusion set in when the web site now indicates 1/1/06 as the inception. Jan indicated to me that this was a misprint and she was going to have it corrected. As of early AM 1/2/07 it had not been changed. So, both the dealer from whom I bought the unit as well as other users wrote me thinking that somehow Panasonic had changed the start date as they had changed the ending date.

I also sent and received an email from Jan. The web site, which I saved as a pdf file, states that that the "purchase must be made between January 1 and December 31, 2006.:

Jan says this relates to the book, but the link to the rebate form is for the cam.

Jan says both are mistakes. Still up as of this date.

The new end date (31/03/07) matches the 16Gig release date (2nd Quarter 07).
(as announced by the distris I talked to, here in France.)

In Europe, there is no such P2 giveway, and the 8Gig P2 is officialy @ 550€ today.

Apparently, the US incentive program lasts until 16Gig should be available, and here no giveway turned into a 50% OFF.

2 kids, 2 cakes!

I would like to chime in on this. I think because of the misprint, panasonic should honor this. After all it was on their end that this misprint happened. I purchased an HVX from RUSH last March and currently shopping for a couple of cards. Renting them is not good in every situation, so I want to own a few right now. If a company advertise a price, they should honor it even if it is a misprint and the fact that they haven't rushed to take it off should also say something. Did the 4gig cards go down? I would take two 4gigs over the 8gig.

Ernest,
I'm with you on this one. I understand making a mistake, but not rectifying it right away. (this has been up for days now) Makes me think of false advertising.
Its also upseting that when you click "For full Terms and Conditions and to request your free P2 card and book, please click here."
that this site has no "Full Terms and Conditions". This is negligence. If I write a quote for a certain amount, or give one of my clients a certain written discount at the time of signing the contract or any time after, you can bet that I'm held liable for that price or discount. (so you can be sure that before I do something like that, I would review it over and over. And in the rare case I made a mistake and someone pointed it out, I'd do everything in my power to fix it right away) (I mean even the cereal boxes that have a promotion have a terms and conditions printed somewhere)
If I were on the other shoes, I sure wouldn't want to give things for free. But in that case I'd also fix this pronto.
I love my HVX200, and I thank panasonic for making it. I wish though there was some way that Panasonic would be more responsible and responsive in these matters. I hope I can get an 8gig card myself, but I doubt I will.
Lets see how Panasonic handles this situation. (I have high hopes that they will do something fair)
Anyway, that's my two cents.

Hello All,

We were just notified by our sales rep that the Free 8GB P2 rebate has been extended to March the 31st. I just thought I would stop the guessing so that everyone can start thinking about about other things, like buying. :) JK

Okay, I've read through that page carefully, and hopefully now I can clear this up once and for all:

There are TWO special offers active right now. One is effective for purchases made between January 1, 2006 through September 30, 2006. That was for the free HVX Book & CD. And it is STILL ACTIVE; if anyone bought a camera through that time frame and hasn't registered yet, they are still able to do so.

The second offer is for purchases made on or after October 1, 2006 and has been extended through March 31, 2007. That is for the free HVX Book+CD and also the free 8GB P2 Card.

Two separate offers, both active.

The claim form is the same for both offers. The difference is in your purchase date. If you bought before September 30th, you will receive offer 1. If you bought October 1 or later, you will receive offer 2.

There is no confusion, there is no mis-marketing, there is no mistake on the website. It is exactly what it should be. The rebate form doesn't say "fill out this form to get your free 8GB card", it says "fill it out to get your free gift." The free gift you qualify for depends on your purchase date.

Much as people may wish, the free 8GB card is never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever going to be backdated prior to October 1, 2006. Ever. Santa Claus is done with his deliveries, there are no more big surprises coming. Once people accept that, this "confusion" can finally go away. And eventually sooner or later we must *all* accept it (and since we have to, why not accept it right now and get it over with and save some time).

(And rest assured, if that were to ever change, you can bet that we'd post that as a huge banner all across DVXUser. Heck, we'd probably send a mass e-mail to every member of DVXUser to let them know!)

Barry:

This page: http://www.panasonic.com/business/provideo/hvx200microsite/index.asp

has in yellow a statement:

special anniversay offer

Free 8Gb p2 card and "The HVX Book" ($1,289.95 value) with HVX200 purchase.

That leads you to this page: http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webap...alogId=13051&itemId=93120&surfModel=AG-HVX200

This lists "current offers."

Click on the first link which says "purchase by March 31, 2007" and it leads you to another page.

There is a link there by clicking on the "claim the special offer" hot link.

It takes you to a form that says:

"Receive your special offer with the purchase of a Panasonic AG-HVX200 camera (purchase must be made between January 1 and December 31, 2006).?

Follow those links and it states clearly that the p2 card goes for purchases between 1/1/06 and 3/31/07.

I know there is no Santa Claus, but this hardly free from confusion and error.

Where? I can't find anywhere where it says that the card is for purchases between 1/1/06 and 3/31/07. You say it's clearly stated; I've never seen anything that says "buy between Jan. 1 2006 and 3/31/07 and get a free 8GB P2 card."
