Open request to CD for FS700 + Odyssey 7Q

1 - Can't be done, at least not well. It's an exposure curve. Just making everything darker throws off the function of the curve severely and it would look pretty poor. It needs to be remapped.

2 - If you REALLY want us to redesign the user interface, we could throw out everything else we're working on for the next 4-6 months or so. That's how much it takes to rebuild such a thing on Odyssey. Still want us to do it?

Since #1 isn't possible, yes please ;)
 
Juding by the other comments, my request is pretty simple and probably easily done:

build a tool like clipmerger where you can extract the metadate (Scene, Take, good/bad) to an organized
list. Otherwise what are these functions for?

How about an option to show a small histogram in place of audio meters? With a red spike on the right if anything is clipping and a purple spike on the left if you're crushing blacks. I'd loooove to have that!

So that means you'll redesign it then!? Woohoo! ;)

Ok, how about the possibility do move histogram and Waveform window? Or at least move it from right side to left? Or is this already possible? I had a situation where I wanted to have waveforms open, but critical part of image was then covered by the waveform window...

We actually have a draft version of this in the works. Nick Shaw churned out a version in a weekend!

We already have a histogram display, and it can be shown in large or small versions. Do not hold your breath on us adding the option you describe. If we did this it would take us away from other tasks. And if we did it we would then be flooded by dozens upon dozens of other requests. The result would be a bunch of options on how to do the same thing, without adding new actual functionality. It would also completely bog down our engineering team, which would stop us from moving forward. I'm afraid you'll just have to make due with our current histogram, zebras, waveform, spot meter, and false color displays for judging exposure.

At the risk of sounding a bit dumb ... I was shooting 120 fps the other day pro res 4k and noticed it recorded to a single card - so I wondered if it would be possible to record pro res 4k at 240 fps via the method the 7Q records 120 raw by flipping frames between SSD's?? I love the interaction with CD by the way it's awesome to hear right from representatives of the company...

I assume you are talking about the FS700... It cannot output 240fps in 4K so no way for the Odyssey to record it ;)
 
Thanks for the response. Yeah I guess the only way would be a firmware update from Sony, but thinking about it more, even if they could get it to output it would be like a 1 second burst. I started using the setup of fs700 + 7Q late last year and am really loving it. I started shooting 4k pro-res because of getting audio as well after dabbling with he cinema DNG files - and again I was surprised that the 7Q was handling the 120 fps on one card in that recording format.
 
What's on with DNxHD? Or will we get DNxHR? I now start spreading a rumor (but don't belive in it to much)... DNxHR will be showing up in mid of June 2016... for O7Q and O7Q+. I can't wait for it to happen :)
