Odyssey 7Q Firmware 2.11.110

Thanks, and yes, Barbados is the same league of pleasent island destination I will be travelling.

I guess, we are climbing the mountain step by step:

Starting at HD/2K up to 30 fps, next step/current firmware up to 60 fps, I would expect ProRes 4K with 24/25/30 fps for the September Firmware. May be that's top of the mountain, or we get a final step for ProRes 4K 50/60 fps.

I think I remeber Mitch saying something about ProRes 444 12-bit as well. But I'm guess that was for HD. Not sure if it's still in the works or not. But just happy we're finally almost at 4k Prores :)

This is still great news that it's coming soon. Question for Mitch when he has a second... The press release doesn't mention frame rates. Is this only up to 30fps or did there end up being enough processing power in the 7Q to handle 50/60?
On this initial release it will be up to 30p. We shall see what we can do going forward but certainly didn't want to add any delay to this release.

4K ProRes 422 HQ is certified. Some additional integration is being completed before release. But the biggest hurdle has been crossed.

I certainly hope as well that the September firmware arrives in September. That would mean a new Odyssey7Q firmware in July, August and then September. Not bad, but we all know how little setbacks can add delays. Doing our best.

4K ProRes 422 HQ needed to be completed before addressing other flavors of ProRes. But we will address them, both higher and lower.

Excellent! 4K Prores means we're getting closer to what I'm expecting the most from my O7Q! LUT's and onion skinning! Woohoo!

Closer to what was promised from the beginning since NAB 2013 and closer to what we've already paid for. To be honest the delay is a PITA..

Yes! Another person excited for onion skinning! Hope to see it soon. I have this creeping feeling we never will.

I'm really looking forward to the 4k prores. Purely for crop punch in techniques. Mind you I am constantly stunned by the 4k2hd setting image quality. It never ceases to amaze me. Thanks for this CD.

Mitch, is HFR cache recording in the O7Q on te cards at all? Ie in the O7Q, set the cache duration and then be able to end trigger that - either in raw or prores (more difficult I guess). The raw is just about deleting old frames isn't it?

that would be a great feature to have (as I sit here trying to capture a humming bird! Blooming thing's been to the other flowers but not these!)

Mitch,

Any chance of seeing 12bit 444 for the F35 anytime soon?
We have several high priority functions we wish to see enabled sooner rather than later. Some are obvious and some are things y'all have no idea about. As we complete them we get closer to what you want to see and I point out that you should look at our recent history for how we plan to proceed in the future. There have been firmware updates in July, August and soon September.

F35 user base is rather small, so this function does not satisfy as many clients as others. However there is a hidden technology connection to another function that does, so that ups its position on the list. Can't say how soon this will be, but it basically rides the coattails of something else for us.So this is not something that will never happen.

First we need to get our programable LUTs function going. Then you really have something that many people will wish to compare. We also have to get our frame grab functionality in place, which again helps in using an onion skin function.

For various technical reasons, no this will not happen.

There is a huge difference between holding files in a RAM memory buffer and writing files to a memory card and then pullingtem off. You're asking that we "play" out frames from one card to then "record them to the other, which we cannot do simultaneously. And we also cannot fragment an SSD by erasing frames. Not if you want a device that can record high speed, or 4K, or a lot of other things.

So no, not going to happen.

Will it be possible for us to load jpegs (pr another standard image file) into the unit to go with the onion skinning? It would be useful for green screen (as would a basic keying function FWIW) among other things.

We will see what is possible as we move forward with development.
