OASIS - An I.A.N. Production

Just say you did it on purpose and it was a tip of the hat to the bad audio sync like you see in Fistful of Dollars.

Well, I'm hoping I don't have to do that as the second ADR session went just as well as the first. Reviewing a few of the good takes and we were both wowed at how good they looked. I just hope it holds up as I continue to edit. Next stop, picture lock and off for sound a music.

Picture is locked! Now we're off for sound design and music. I still need to do colour correction and some general clean-up.

Anyone else feel like their project is just lurching from one disaster to the next? One finally resolved, though I have no idea how. For some reason, Vegas wasn't saving AAF files at all, so I haven't been able to get a package together for the sound designer. Despite several days with Sony tech support and reinstalling Vegas a few times, it still wouldn't work.

Then, miraculously, it works today. No idea why - and at this point I don't care. I'll just give my thanks to God, and run while it's hot. Waiting on a draft score from the composer, and I will have my files off to our sound guy tomorrow. Whew.

Man, I know how that can be. For a while my FCP/Compressor combo would simply NOT export correctly. And I don't mean that as if I couldn't find the right settings, essentially every time I tried to export it would just fail about an hour or two into the export. That drove me crazy on one particular project. Fortunately, we've had nothing but luck during our westfest production so far. I'm glad to hear that you're managing to move along. Can't wait to see it when its done!

my production went fairly smooth in post but yes, i have had many films where everything seemed to go wrong. glad to see you sorted it out.

Glad things are going well for you guys. Sprinting to the finish line now. I'm expecting a draft score any time now. Colour matching and basic cleanup is done. Dropped off the cut with the sound designers yesterday, I am pumped to hear what these guys can do. They'll be doing the final mixdown when I get the final score too, so it's just waiting on sound now. My major tasks remaining:

1. Tweaking the CC to get more of the look I want
2. Background cleanup. Doing some roto and some in photoshop, and it's proving more of a PITA than I anticipated. We'll see how it all comes out.
3. Tweaking compression. I did a test run the other day, and managed to get it just over 60 megs, at 1.5 mb/sec. While two of the three scenes looked good at this level, the third was absolutely mutilated. It was okay at 2.5, but that put the total to 100 megs. I need to play around with this to figure it out.

New poster up - thanks Rodney!

It's in!

Flawed, but (largely) finished. For some reason in the final render, some of the colour correction came out wonky, and I didn't get to do the background fix-ups like I had originally intended. But, it's done and it's in. I can't wait to see the rest of the films on here.

And it's out - copyright concerns. I hope we can get this sorted out quickly - if not I am firing up a sans-music version just in case. Noel, you have email and PMs.

I don't know if this is doable, but can you do a no-music version for compete, and then upload the regular version as non compete?

Thanks Larry, and all the mods - I know today must be absolutely nuts for you guys. Props to you all for keeping a handle on everything.
