I agree with John - In this price range you have limited choices for 35mm(or there abouts) style video - Either figure a way to shoot and avoid the issues, or don't shoot them at all. Problem is...the only other cameras in the VDSLR price range have DEEP focus. They do a lot well, but they don't have the "look" of the VDSLR.
In the general DSLR discussion forum we were all just reminded what could be accomplished with a D90 and some skill.....and the D7000 is miles ahead of the D90(video wise). The D5100 should be as well.
We also have to keep in mind - These are still cameras first, and very good ones.
I won't buy it of course, I got the 550d and waiting for someone out there to change their mind eventually! I don't agree with you guys. Panasonic did it a long time ago, the others just don't wanna do it for commercial reasons. Is it gonna cost $300 more? Fine! i'll buy it and keep releasing the other models with that "resolution" we're all used to with lower prices, the technology allows it and we all know it. It bothers me they keep saying this magic word "1080p FULL HD" when it's just false advertising!
