nikon adapter quality - are some better than others?

sounds good. everyone else on par with that statement? Cause if so ill place some orders :) and its recommended to have one per lens?

A lot of adapters allow a little focus past infinity. Nothing wrong that as long as you are aware.
Better to have an adapter do that than not reach infinity! :)

I've used the FD and Nikon F adapters for the GH1 and now this Fotodiox Nik / EOS adapter
all of them allowed focus past infinity.

I don't like the focus past infinity. It's so much easier to have a hard stop where you know it's in focus, especially out in bright light.

So the Fotodiox one focuses past infinity too? :Drogar-Mad(DBG):

So if the Fotodiox allows focusing past infinity, that $6 one that you bought might make more sense than spending any more money on the Fotodiox?

I think if you want the hard stop and perfect collimation you would need to spend serious money. I've only checked the Fotodiox infinity mark with my 50mm and it definitely focused past infinity. I had my 24mm on the other day and from memory I think the infinity was right on.

Perhaps... BUT. what they did on this adapter to achieve a tight fit was to machine a slot in the center of the flange and use a screwdriver to expand it to the right size. You can see a rub mark where most of the contact is made between the lens and the adapter. It's probably something that would loosen up over time, and who knows if it's correct anyway.

These same lenses were perfect on the D90, including a hard stop at infinity, so I know they can do it, why can't my $6 adapter?? :Drogar-Angry(DBG)::Drogar-Angry(DBG): :) :) I guess I answered my own question there.

so gentlemen, what's the adapter to get?

Do i understand correctly if you say one of the adapters has good infinity focus, but poor quality hold on the lens? And the other is vice versa?

Simplify plz :)

Pa Pa - go with KAWA on ebay. I bought a Nikon to EOS and then a M42 to EOS and both fit perfectly/machined nicely. And they're cheap. All of the adapters are doing the same thing. KAWA is great and cheap - hard to beat.

My only issue has been removing my EOS adapter from my Nikon lens. I had the Nikon lens on my camera and used it exclusively for almost two months. Finally took it off and realized that the lens had gotten really locked onto the adapter. Anyone with ideas how to get the thing off:violin:?

I've been using the Fotodiox Pro model, and it works great with the 7D--holds the lens in place solidly. You definitely want an adapter for every lens--would be a pain to change them every time you change lenses. I've been using them with my 18, 24, 35, and 85 mm Nikons, and a 50mm Zeiss ZF. No focus confirmation, but if you're shooting video, that doesn't really matter.

I'm actually selling one of them, so let me know if you're interested.

Is there a way to control the aperture when using a Tokina 11-16 with the Nikon adaptor?

Thanks.

Johnnie

Tokina 11-16 can be bought for the EOS mount but unfortunately for me I own the nikon mount.
With the nikon mount there is no accurate way on the 7D because of the flange distance. I have been using a Qtip and cutting small segments of the stem. It wedges in the lens in the gap next to the lever and you can make rough judgements as to aperture size. GH1 is much easier because you can control it with this

Gunna go ahead and give this one a shot. So basically, unless you're willing to spend hundreds on an adapter, none of these guys will give you critical focus at infinity correct?
