nikon adapter quality - are some better than others?

There seems to be a million different sellers all making the same nikon adapter.
Do some of them have quality issues? Infinity focus off?

Any links to recommended brands are welcome !

EDIT:
so far I've only seen one recommendation Fotodiox on ebay LINK recommended by xbourque at this post LINK

I have a few, essentially there are 2 different designs floating around and varying quality copies of both. These 2 are the best of the bunch- http://cgi.ebay.com/Adapter-Fits-Ca...837172f06&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14#ht_1460wt_1184

they are both of similar quality, neither is perfect fit they fit pretty well and a bit of gaff should make for tight fit.
The other cheaper design fits almost as well- http://cgi.ebay.com/Nikon-Lens-to-C...5ed99d688&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14#ht_2610wt_1038

how do these work? do they mount to the camera or to the lens, if you know what i'm saying? is it possible to put one on the camera and have it work just like a real f mount? i guess not since the lock button would release the adapter and not the lens when pressed. since some of these are fairly cheap would it be a good idea to buy one for each of my nikon lenses and leave them on? i'm not a canon user and have never been, but the way things are going i just might...

I have a fotodiox one that looks exactly like the Kawa that Squig linked.

The adapters are meant to stay on the lens, not the body.

Treat yourself to one adapter per lens. You won't regret it. Not worth the hassle for <10$ per adapter.

Hehe I was wondering when you'd show up.

I have one on each lens. Some of the $20 options like the kawa are ok but I'm going to put a bit of gaff on mine to get a really snug fit, there's only about 1mm rotational play which is fine with a prime but really sux with the isco.

big price difference between the two...I need 4...should I just get the cheap ones then?

I wanna know too, how good those at ebay are at 40 US because those same things are 280 US at B&H !! whoah!

There's not a huge difference between the $40 and $20 adapters but I've found the $40 (black + stainless) adapters have a slightly more secure fit on the lens side. The $20 adapters are fine except I did get one that was a bit too loose for my liking but it wasn't from one of the sellers I linked to. I've been told that these cheap adapters fit just as well as the novoflex and cameraquest adapters.

squig,

how much magnification does it introduce to the nikon lens. Say, a 50mm nikon becomes what?

Ted

Actually, if you are wondering about FOV, since Canon APS-C is a 1.6x crop and Nikon DX is 1.5x, if you're used to DX, your lenses will be a bit narrower on the Canon.

Of course, full frame is full frame on both brands. So going from Nikon FX to Canon full frame should be identical FOV-wise.

Thanks squig !
Since I want my adapter at home ready to go with my lenses when the
7D arrives all recommendations are extremely useful right now.

I have 4 cheapy's and a Novoflex and seriously there is no comparison. From a $20 to about $60 that all work with issues ranging from wrong infinite focus ( collimation off of coarse ) to loose and one is getting looser by the day due to a cheap housing. Most of them started to fit snug but after a few weeks they start loosening . Like I said they all work but the Novoflex has been snug and intinte focus solid from day 1 with collimation thats bang on. It has no chip contacts which a couple of the cheap ones do and they work nicely for focus assist metering.

You can I guess go thru 8 or so cheap ones which equal the cost of a Novo so its really a trade off. I just got tired of focus issues and loose lenses.

I always wondered why this huge price difference of more than 100,- euro/dollar. This might be an explanation...

Just wondering what is the reasoning behind having an adapter for each lens?
Especially if you go for an expensive well made adapter like novoflex or something.

Wouldn't it be more economical to get one adapter, leave it on the camera and get a nikon F bodycap?
