Nikon 50mm 1.4 with EOS Adapgter: Wide open question

I have a Pentax 50mm 1.4 for my 7D. I've noticed that wide open it's soft and I get lens flare from car head lights. I'm wondering if a Nikon 50mm 1.4 would be much more sharper all the way open? Anyone use a Nikon lens?

got a 1.4 nikkor... good value but i'm not sure it'll have increased sharpness you're looking for probably

What kind of results do you get for night shots, natural lighting? With me, at ISO 320, wide open at 1.4 I get starburst and flaring from light sources. I have to stop down to about 2.8 to cut back on the starburst. Running a test between my Pentax 28mm 2.8 and Pentax 50mm 1.4, the 28mm is clean fully open at 2.8 but the 50mm, I have to stop down to 2.8 to match the the 28mm's sharpness. This is inside, under tungsten lighting, custom white balanced.

Sounds like your lens is not coated.

Would coating affect an indoor shot, where the object is in focus but really soft? I mean this only happens when fully open at 1.4 and above up until 2.8. And if it IS because it's not coated, how would one go about getting the lens coated?

Oh, I didnt' know it happened when you were inside. I own the same lens, and it is indeed a lil soft wide open. Like you said, around 2.8 it really starts to shine.
