Newegg.com???

Hi, I've been looking to buy the DVX-100B from Newegg.com. I've done my research and I've found they sell the camera the cheapest. All the other sites that have it listed as cheaper are scam sites.

Here's the listing I'm looking at:

Can anyone tell me if this is a bad idea? Newegg has great reviews on reseller. Or does anyone know of a better place to get it? I don't think newegg includes the DVX book and bullit editing.

Thanks for your help!

I buy all my computer stuff on newegg and I think that about 90% of all pc users here have built or bought something from newegg, great site man

The only other question I have is whether I should buy something off of ebay that will include a nice case, perhaps an extra battery or a lens. I've seen some good deals off of ebay. For cameras as good as the 100B, how do you know you aren't getting scammed for a sale on ebay?

Newegg is about as solid as it gets. No worries there.

Ebay is a lot more risky but you can get good deals. I've never been scammed on eBay, but I don't buy that much from them.

While I have never considered buying a camera from them, NewEgg is the place I buy 90% of my PC stuff, and never once had any issues in several years.

For NEW equipment, EVSonline is another very solid company. Of course, B&H is the gold standard.

For used, it's always a toss up. eBay is the best known of course. And there's craiglist.

I'm really really considering one of these deals on ebay, some include a case, lens, extra bettery and/or a tripod for the price of just the camera on newegg of b+h. I figure if the sellers have a good rating on ebay, why be afraid? These aren't the sketchy scam artists out of Brooklyn.

These are the two I'm really considering:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...em=290183811079&_trksid=p3984.cTODAY.m238.lVI

I don't know a ton about accessories and such....are these good ideas?

Newegg is legit. But, they are not an authorized dealer. So, there is a chance that you will receive a camera that is a non-U.S. authorized camera and will not be eligible for rebates, warranty coverage, etc.

Same thing if you buy from any non-authorized dealer.

If you want peace of mind and you want warranty coverage and to be eligible for rebates, then you need to buy from an authorized dealer.

Otherwise, just be aware of what you may (or in this case, may not) get.

That said, several folks have bought the camera from newegg. I buy a lot of stuff from them. There is a chance your serial number will be authorized. There is a chance it will not. Basically, it depends on where they get/got their stock from.

I just bought 100b from foto connection. Having a very bad experience. I considered newegg but didn't go with them. Anybody else had a bad experience with foto connection.com?

newegg is actually an authorized dealer, just got my dvx100b in august of this year and sent the form that i got included in the camera package and after 3 weeks of waiting i got my magic bullet software plus instant hd and of course the dvx book with the dvd. newegg is definitely legit. so don't think twice...cheers!

Im a B and H guy. I will buy from nobody else. Dont know much about newegg except most of what i hear is decent. Most. There is no way i would take a chance on ebay for something as large as a camera, maybe a bag, a boom pole, or something.. but never a camcorder. Some people have had good experiences, but I dont mind paying full price knowing im getting brand new and i will be taken care of if i have a problem.

If it sounds too good to be true, it IS. We hear that over and over and over again. So true.

Newegg is not an authorized dealer. They may have sold you a product that was originally sourced from an authorized dealer (which let your rebate go through) but there's no guarantee the next guy buying will get equally-US-sourced gear.

Newegg is a great company and I've bought many computer items from them. But they're not an authorized Panasonic USA dealer.

What does it mean that they aren't an authorized dealer? You won't get a warranty from them? How do you know if you can get a rebate?

Couple of years ago I bought a used DVX100 (non A or B) cam on Ebay for $2400 which I thought was a great deal at the time. After taping a few events the lens zoom failed on the morning of an event which caused me to stress out finding gear to rent to make the shoot. In the end with the cost of the cam, rental and repairs it would have been the same to buy a new DVX100A at the time.

Then last year I needed a backup cam and picked up a used DVC30 only to receive it with a tiny nick on the lens that you can't see until you playback the footage on a monitor - not visible on the LCD or viewfinder.

So for me - new cams for the next purchase for a peace of mind. I'll only buy used from someone I know and have a chance test the gear. Just my 2 cents. Best of luck on your new cams!

Good advice. Thanks. The only reason I'm tempted to get one used off of ebay is because there are good deals where people through in other accessories, like a case or tripod or something. Definitely saves you some cash. But its all not worth it if there is something wrong with the camera because it is used...

It means they have no relationship to panasonic and they can't buy new equipment from them. So they have to buy it elsewhere. Which may mean that they get it from an authorized dealer (if they can find one who's willing to sell to them) or they have to get it on the gray market (imports from Japan or Canada or wherever).

If they get their equipment from an authorized dealer, then yes you qualify for the rebate and the warranty. But if they get it from some gray market import source, then no you don't get any rebates, nor do you have a warranty in the USA.

How do you know? You don't. When you go outside the authorized-dealer network, you get what you get, and you get whatever that dealer decides to sell you. When you stay in the authorized dealer network you have leverage, you can bring Panasonic in to force the dealer to live up to their obligations.

Buying from a non-authorized dealer gives you no such protection.
