Creating a disk image (DMG) each time is a huge, huge waste of time and will gain you no more safety than simply copying the files. There is no issue.
Not that I don't believe you as I personally feel that if I drag a file from one volume to another the copy it creates should be bit for bit identical to the original every single time. But the fact is we have people who are losing files during transfer and in the case of a lastclip.txt this can be extremely detrimental. So even though there SHOULD be no issue, there is, and we're trying to figure out a workflow which can limit the chances of a computer hiccup dispelling our footage into the ether. Can you please explain further why verifying the files after they've been copied or creating a disk image so we're not changing filesystems on the copy or anything that we've been talking about is a waste of time, please. I'm all for saving time while achieving the same or a better result.
