Having a dedicated field recorder with the MixPre-D means you can move around a bit more.

Fantastic, cheers, Alex, I shall test. And finally, you have suggestions for higher end option recorder (or any device really) to go with the MixPre-D? I saw the Marantz PMD661 has S/PDIF in, but I think that would require an AES to S/PDIF converter or something.... I see the Sound Devices 702 has digital AES inputs at a higher price point... there must be a small digital device that can take the AES or the USB digital out from the MixPre-D... you reckon?

Anything under $1k (really, under $2k) that has digital in will be S/PDIF via RCA connection.
