New t2i sample footage

20 seconds at 30fps from a fashion shoot, shot while 'experimenting' with camera (not by me, I just found it on vimeo). Content is poor but the test is good because you get to see a variety of aperture settings, focus travel, (noisy) autofocus and so on. I like these kinds of tests because they often tell you more about a camera than the carefully optimized shots do.

BTW note that embedded videos are not hd. you can seeit in HD at vimeo or download the raw 1080 version from there.

looks good to me. The autofocus will be handy during shots where the sound won't be used, and obvious the part of the footage that's filmed that where the autofocus is doing it's thing, is cutout.

Looks decent to me.

Looks great, I just can't wait to see the 720p footage from the camera. Praying for less aliasing!!!

awesome! thanks so much for posting this, i've been scouring everywhere trying to find footage. downloading 1080p now!

I didn't realize it could auto-focus while recording. Noisy, but maybe handy?

The 7D can also autofocus during recording. You have to press and hold AF-ON button.

That loud focusing noise just means that the lens is non-USM. My Tamron 17-50 sounds like that, but my non-L Canon 50mm f1.4 is much quieter. Canon does have a couple of non-USM zoom lenses in their range still.

I did not know about the autofocus while shooting. Well, is not exactly something you can use with the glidecam but in some case it could come useful.
Thanks for the info.

wondering what the bitrate on the video coming out of the cam is?

Is the micro jitter/jello from the bad operating, vimeo, my computer screen or a combination of the above?

4 readouts vs 8 on 7D?

just curious.

Yeah but how much would you hear that AF noise if you have an external mic mounted elsewhere? Especially a shotgun mic.

Not that I would use that AF while shooting, personally speaking.

I just checked again and the bitrate was about 46mbits/s, like the 7D.

The jello is from the obvious handheld operation and the change of the lighting is just the Auto-exposure.

The 7D has 8 channel readout because it needs it for the 8fps still shooting. The 550D has 3.7fps shooting, so it would just need 4 channels.

Can the camera be set to NOT adjust auto-exposure? And, can it be "locked"?

Yes. I wish people would take the trouble to read the specifications on the manufacturer's website before asking questions like this, especially considering that these two questions are basically the same one stated two different ways. I'm all for sharing information, but given that Canon's own webpage is the top google result for 'Canon t2i', it shouldn't be that hard to gather the basic information.
