New setup... MacBook Pro or MacPro?

It is all over the place. Some capture directly to the internal HD for the MBPs; others can capture directly to the internal of a PB 1.67 G4.

My suggestion is capture to external eSATA drive through the FW port with the cam

are you saying hook up the camera like a drive, and ingest the footage into the eSATA drives?
First off, I didn't know that was an option. Secondly, If I'm understanding you correctly, would you go RAID 1 like doccutter suggested? Thanks!
