new sensor

Hi all,

dont know if this has been asked before.
But a colleague of mine needs to replace the sensor for his 7d.
What would the cost be for such an "operation" ?

I think you'd have to ask Canon. I've never heard of a sensor being replaced before.

I would bet it would be cheaper to just buy a new body.

Mmm... If it's any consolation I once had an expensive Canon printer of mine print head stop working - turned out it's cheaper to replace the printer than to replace the print head. So I suspect it'll be the same thing with a 7D sensor. But yeah, best to ask Canon first.

Contact your nearest Canon repair location. Some repairs aren't worth the cost, but occasionally their surprisingly affordable. I've had sony's repaired for free, even out of warranty. But things may be more expensive in the USA due to labor costs.

Thanks guys....so now it turns out the sensor was damaged by laser lights ....any wild suggestions !
