New greenscreen Videoclip

Hi all,

This is my second greenscreen project. In this case I was asked to film a videoclip.

The artist is called Robert Rodrigo
and is a great guitar player.

The greenscreen footage was filmed in a HV20 with a basic lighting setup in my neighbours garage.

These are some photos of the setup.

Enjoy.

Yeah, pretty cool man. But I noticed at 3:03 the head of the guitar goes off the greenscreen, seems to disappear.

yes, this problem is in the old version (i'm about to upload the new one without that error).

Wow, overall very good.

There is one other thing that needs to be fixed. In two places his shadow seems to loop or something, like it runs out of shadow footage and starts over or something. (:53,1:24)

Other than that and head of the guitar I think you have something truly great.

Looks real nice man what did you use for the comp and and background. How did you get the shadow intact.

Thanks,

Both the comp and the background (exept the terrain that was created in vue) were done using after fx (Keylight for keys, particular for the stars and cc sphere for the planets). Some of the explosions were created in particleillusion.

The shadow was just the talent clip with a basic3d filter and some curves laid under the feet of the talent.
For the clips that have movement, the shadows were put onto the planet background that then was used as a 3d layer behind the artist.

Thanks for the comments.

Once again I say awesome. I have to ask because I'm curious (if you would share), how did you do that nebula about 3/4 into the video? That looks awesome.

Very good guitar work and very good greenscreen project. Hats off to ya ...

A couple of very talented friends.

Encouraging too to see what can be done with a garage that looks as messed up as mine. :)

Thanks MattinSTL,

If you refer to the software side i explained it some posts before,
but if you refer to the process, here it goes,
I mainly used after effects, first I deinterlaced the footage that I
captured with the hv20,

Then I prepared the clip for the key.

This consisted on creating two layers of the same clip duplicated,
one would act as a trackmatte and the other as the foreground.

For the first I applied some levels and saturation to the clip to
bring out the green (There is no problem if you affect the
foreground as this layer will be used as a trackmatte ), then I
applied keylight and pulled the key. Finally I blurred the clip a
bit so that the edges were even.

Once the key was pulled I selected the other layers trackmatte
stting in afterfx to be the layer I had already keyed.
At this stage I had two layers one acting as a track matte and
other acting as foreground. After all this the only thing left was
to make the backgorund and color correct the foreground as I wish.

I find this procedure to be the best for me, as I have individual
control of the matte and the actual clip that is viewed.

I hope this is well enough explained. If not I will try again.

BTW, if the result of ignorance is the wish to learn, ignorance is
the key to success.

ilauzirika,

Looked at greenscreen1 and it looks like you did a lot of work and had a lot of fun creating it. Quite a learning experience and good job.

Greenscreen2, Robert Rodrigo, is great...looks pro to me and he's a lucky guy to have your creativity. Thanks for sharing both and if you do some more, please post them. Inspiring work. I've got the gear and now want to do one of these myself! Wonderful effects.

Not bad mate but I think you really needed quicker cuts for that particular scenario or try to do more in ae with the camera. Maybe some stuff shot with the effect of 18fps or so on a closeup of the fingers moving fast. The key looks pretty good but maybe try to get rid of that green spill by using a deep brown (?) on the edges - it's in keylight but I can't remember what the function's called right now.

Very creative though.

Totally agree, I also felt that some cuts are slow, but as that was what the guitarrist wanted.... But you are right, with some ae camera movements would have been better.
Thanks for your opinion.
