C300: New Cinema EOS Firmware is now available

threw this together, 12,800 is still my personal limit, but up to 32,000 is serviceable. past that it gets ugly, but stays remarkably sharp.

i suspect up to 32,000 should denoise pretty well, considering the relative uniformity of the grain structure. past that, other bad things start to happen, i'm sure any iso can be denoised to some effect, but again, i'm setting my preferred range to 12800 and under, with 32,000 for desperate times. A faster lens is always going to be preferable to high nasty noise isos.

Then again, half the time i'm using high iso so i can stop down and get some larger DOF... I think that statement just made a random vimeo shallow-DOF junkie's head explode....

Grr! I'm knee deep in shooting this week so no go for me updating firmware. sure could use the movable magnification feature tomorrow and Friday.

i gotta say, i didn't even think about it and instinctively went to do it and had that realization of... oh yea, that does what it's supposed to now! far more important than higher isos

Question. The FW instructions state you "need" a 64gb card to update the c100. Has anybody updated with a 32gb card or smaller???

The one push AF is fine, so is one push iris with AF lenses. I like the new exposure meter in the finder (although I only ever trust the histogram). Magnification moving is neat.
Wondering who will choose cn-e lenses over regular EF L ones now....

Still no slo-mo. I see a lot of people selling their C300 in favor of FS700...

the c300 link is still dead. Is there some secret handshake required or did canon hire the the same web guys as healthcare.gov?

you'd think they'd send out the same kind of email as they did with the 5d 24p update, but seems they don't see this update as significant.

I was wondering the same thing myself--- If something wasn't quite right with the firmware update. But then again you would think that Canon would announce that rather than just quietly pull the file off the site and let people get 404 errors when trying to download the file .

anyone else notice that they didnt add the function on the c300 so that the wheel on the grip and the wheel on the left side of the body could be used for adjusting either iris or ISO separately?

Well, the firmware has been pulled from the Canon site. Perhaps it wasn't complete and someone accidentally posted it a bit too early? There was no official announcement of it's availability, so that seems plausible. Or maybe they had an "oh, sh*t" moment when they realized they left a few things out.
