Thanks for posting this- I just ordered a c100 mk II with the 18-135 kit- i haven't taken delivery or signed for it yet, so I'm hoping I can get the $1k off deal...

Damn Canon

Damn Canon

Pretty bummed about this.. I got the C100 MKII less than a year ago and it seems to be already $1000 dollars cheaper even if it is a mail in rebate. I wish Canon would do some framework updates or something to make the camera more worth of the price than slash it.

I would expect the price to fall a bit over its life - but I haven't even received mine yet and it's dropped $1k - hoping the dealer I ordered from will honor the price break as it's not even received yet!

its an instant rebate...probably listed somewhere when you buy the cam. they werent $2500 until recently, for sure.

The price drop is probably due to the recently released FS5, which delivers a reasonable quality 4K for about the same price and with a similar workflow. Plus, there are several bandied about cameras in the same weight class that should be announced some time between now and the NAB - D5, 1D X MKII (and perhaps even A99 II and Panasonic's version of Leica SL).

Hooray for competition.

The price has been $2999.00 for quite some time now........ It dropped to $2499.00 only a $500 discount...... Not really a $1500 drop in price. I didn't see the word rebate mentioned anywhere. I guess rebate and discount are the same thing.

Wow! In Canada when the C100 first came out it was $8000 for the body alone.

Great camera, the only reason I never bought one was because it didn't have at least a 50/mbs for broadcast.

i know those are only rumors but from the names those all sound like dslrs.
Not sure if Panasonic wants to copy everything from Leica SL (I mean, it's mostly Panasonic inside anyway) or add a few features and package it into an AF-100 style body that everyone was clamoring for before DVX200 was introduced. Others should indeed be the D4/1D C/A99 style - or the identical replicas thereof - bodies. As all these appear geared toward video rather than high resolution stills, there could be a some sort of a YAGH attachment or, at worst, an active cooperation between the camera manufacturers and the monitor/recorder specialists such as Convergent Design, Atomos and Video Devices.

Not to steal Mitch Gross's thunder - and who would? ... who can? - but he just posted that the NAB will have several new cameras. He gave no details (obviously) but it's been clear a while that a lot of lines are at the end of their cycles and due for an update. Additionally, there are still gaps in the "affordable high end" and the ultra high end pro lines.

I expect CP+ to take care of the DSLR type products.

aw c'mon. give us a hint. looking to buy a c100 mark 1 soon. gimme a reason not to.

At this price, it will be hard to regret. Canon is not going to compete with a Sony price gouge war. The C100 combined with a Ninja is compelling for getting great work done.

These discounts will last through March, correct?

CP+ is in February. That's where the DSLR bodies should be revealed (if they are revealed anywhere).

As to leaks and pre-pre-pre-announcements, that's like playing the BMD game.
