New Canon DSLR's

I thought everyone already knew the knew camera was 30p? Has something changed or someone alluded to anything different recently?

I might be out of the loop.

I've been assuming it's 30p. And I haven't seen anything to indicate other wise. I'm not ready to take that leap of faith just yet... but someday :)

In the meantime, awhile the expectations should go entirely to the helpful viable (or maybe not so possible*) manual controls instead the usual 24p/25p drama ** take a look on this interview well before June (last update on the 5D Mark II firmware effectively bringing this camera for the usuable territory with professional manual controls):

* Will they need to protect the 5D Mark II sales? That's the only reasonable doubt we can have at this point.

Even if it's only 30p the dual processors should make for a jello improvement and if the noise specs are the same as the MKII it will be better in low light because we can shoot at f/2.8 with a 1.6x crop instead of f/4-5.6. The other issue that really concerns me with the MKII is dropped frames on slow pans, hopefully the dual digic IV will remedy this too.

I take Full HD to mean 1080P at 30P. No mention of framerate in specs. No use getting hopes up, this is Canon we're talking about.

I still don't understand why Canon doesn't include 24p. Logically you could say they are trying to protect their pro video line. But realistically they could make a lot more money selling cheaper DSLR's with more lenses bought here and there then making someone shell out nine grand for an HDV camera. I'm sure it's safe to say that for everyone who buys an XL-H1s, there are at least 4-5 people buying a 5DII or 7D plus lenses. Plus people who still need an HDV camera. Seems pointless to omit 24p from the DSLR's.

I got mixed up with the new 1D specs at canonrumors which lists 24P.
The Canon 7D specs make no mention of it.

Here's the thing a lot of people pushed for manual control and 24p, Canon delivered manual control and 24p was beta tested but for whatever reason hasn't made it into production so I think there's a better than 50/50 chance the 7D will have 24/25p. If the 7D doesn't have 24p then surely the 1D MKIV will but we'll have to wait a few more months for it. Canon is at least listening and delivering unlike the other manufacturers.

I've grown out of 24p, if canon make a PAL version of anything I will have to sell that new GH1 that's getting here in a few days.

25p 50p won for me. I'm am so scared of image quality on the Panny, I had held a canon a few times this month and messed with some files i'm blown away.

Then again I'm switching to GH1 from a Nikon so it should feel better.

Canon can change my plans completely with a PAL version. The fact that a 5DII still doesn't happen in PAL scares me.

Dont get me wrong 24fps is awesome, but 25 makes the money here and I honestly cant tell the difference between both. I'd be happier slowing down/speeding up final work between 24-25 but not happy at all with the 30 to 25.

I agree, there is no problem to convert 24p to 25p. And keep in mind 24p belongs to the bluray specs, 25p doesnt...
