New Canon 18-80mm Compact Servo Lens and ME200S-SH Multi-Purpose Camera Announced!

Besides a possible overheating "fix", what other firmware did the last 5 Sony cameras (besides the FS5) that were each available a month or so after being announced need?

RX100IV
RX10II
A7RII
A7SII
A6300

Just wondering if there was any other firmware that I may have missed for any added features/fixes.

Of course they all have their quirks, but I remember them all being pretty powerful machines shipped as they were.

I'm not sure...sounds like maybe one of the older big boys...F5, F55. Something with an upgrade option kind of rings a bell, but I don't know.

I am excited for this lens though...I work a lot outdoors in certain seasons, and owning a cinema servo zoom lens for that price (even if it's not as good as the $20K, $30K ones) is something I only dreamed about in B&H's studio when I was window shopping.

Heh..was unaware of the F5 hack..was thinking of the X70.

But yes, the new lens seems to be looking for an appropriate body..NAB?

To be fair, Canon has always announced products with a 4-6 month lead time. But then they always deliver consistently on time. Sony has a different model.

The 1DX Mark II is coming a bit sooner after a February announcement, so hopefully this model changes...at least for cameras.

4-6 months is now a lifetime in this industry.

Canon announced the C300 in November 2011 with an availability date of January 2012. (of course, there was that 2 month pre-announcement that they were going to make an announcement, but they hadn't even told us if they were talking about a camera at that point.) Then there's the other company with the Bogus Manufacturing Dates.
