Need some help deciding on a wider lens.

Tell me what you think about it mate. I'm thinking of getting that lens myself. Just so you know, I do have the Tokina and it is everything I wanted...except it's not manual. That was the reason why I sold it.

Sure thing. I should be ordering it tomorrow if I can get to the bank before it closes. I found a really cheap one in canon mount, however it is Bower, but as far as I know it is the same exact lens? Could someone just confirm that?

Okay that is what I thought. And I just want to further clarify, because no one really answered any questions about this lens. It is made for full frame so it will appear to be around 21mm on my camera?

The Tokina 11-16 mounted to your T3i will give you almost exactly the same field of view as if it were mounted to a S35mm motion picture camera used to shoot movies as their sensor size is almost identical. The only time you should even be concerned with crop comparisons to a full frame sensor camera is if you are trying to match other footge shot with a full frame camera. I think some of you are taking this whole crop sensor concept a little too far.

I think there have been discussions on dvxusers about crop sensor and mm being too confusing and that we should use angle of view instead. I agree with that.

The only reason I'm so concerned about it is because I don't want a super wide angle like a 14mm lens, and would have much more use for a lens closer to 20mm.

Then why don't you get a 21mm or 24mm lens? or are you talking about the field of view? A 14mm lens is a 14mm lens, it is not a 21mm lens on a crop body. It's a 14mm lens on whatever camera you put it on. A 14mm on a 5d will have a 104.2 angle of view while on a 7d it will have 79.7 angle of view. Please use this. http://www.abelcine.com/fov/

So I just bought the lens, should be here in a week. I know people are interested in the performance and I'd be more than happy to shoot some tests for you guys, but I haven't ever done that before, so if someone tells me what the most effective tests are, I'll do them. (besides shooting charts, I don't have charts to shoot)

I'm confused as to why you posted the link? I'm asking what people would like me to shoot to see how it looks in different situations...

That also seems like a bit of a biased review as well, I've done a lot of research on the lens and that review by far bashes it the most.
