GH5 ND filter for video: I look for a good filter for gh5

I think it is a variable ND filter. There aren't other explanations because I used the GH5 correctly as exposure and shutter speed.
My documentary is to throw in the trash because even if I modify the colors I get bad images.

I really don’t see what is the problem with your footage. Maybe a tiny bit underexposed but totally good to use in a documentary. A quick grade and you’re good to go.

I made a good clip with the second clip but it is impossible to make a good clip with the first one. It is really impossible and I have a lot of clips like it. But I'd like to understand why my GH5 shoots in Africa in this way. What the problem was?
I attach another clip: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kxag1f2eg8h0a0c/Altra prova originale.MOV?dl=0

TOTALLY AGREE. 5 pages into a thread and the footage is surely usable... especially for YouTube or Rai TV.

Do you think it? Therefore try to create a good clip with the first link. If you want I can send you the original clip. I'd like to verify how much you can improve that clip.

Adriano, what monitor are you using to view and color grade your footage? Is it calibrated for your delivery color space e.g. Rec 709?

Your GH5 has tons of exposure aid features, like waveform, zebra stripes, and histogram; so if your clips are under exposed it's no fault of the camera or variable ND, rather your failure to expose the scene properly. Your variable ND will cut some polarized light, but the locking ring allows you to rotate the entire filter to dial in polarization, so the impact on reflections should be minimal.

I have a Dell U2515H Monitor calibrated "ITU-R Rec 709". I use X-rite i1 Display Pro. You are telling me bad clips are my failure to expose the scene properly. I can accept it but it is so easy to put choose 180° rule before shooting. So I do not have to follow what the GH5 tells me on the LCD monitor? I can't get such bad images if I follow that rule. There is something else wrong.

Do you plan to do some color correcting/grading or is your goal to shot perfect footage and not touching it afterwards?

I always worked color correcting/grading in every my documentary. Even when I used AX100 but I never got such ugly clips.

What part of the image to do you want to improve. The girls, the ground, the trees. What do you want to improve, colour, level, contrast, what ? You need to be specific for us to help. Do you want the colours darker, lighter less contrast what?

Here is a fast grade.

Before
Altra prova originale.00_00_19_23.Still002.jpg

The original footage is underexposed and the skintones are too red.

Ron, why do I have to limit the beauty of the image? Why do I have to choose which of the three parameters I have to improve? I'd like to improve all three parameters because a beautiful image is beautiful in every sense. This is the problem. I want good video and not a quite good video. And I still don't know what was my problem in Africa.

Who said you had to choose one parameter? We just don’t understand what is so wrong in the original footage.
