NAB 2017 rumors?

F65 in an F55 form factor (meaning 8k downscaled to 4K), very likely sooner rather than later. Might even be released at this NAB.

Shoot, a Varicam Mini, if it had the same sensor, priced around the C300 MKII would be killer. LT is a great camera, but fully kitted out, still too big, wide, heavy and expensive for my work. I like those Panasonic colors. P2 cards though, ughh. I sold off all of my P2 cards when I sold off my HPX-170.

Didn't Sony say 2017 wouldn't be a year of new cameras? SR4 rumor of an FS5 II, probably with 4k 60fps and global shutter. Sounds too good to be true...

Source 2: I was told that I should wait with my purchase of FS5 now. Because it is highly possible that new camcorder with 4k60p is coming on NAB (because of URSA mini PRO and GH5)

How can Sony compete with URSA Mini Pro without killing their whole line-up under F65?

F65 has a 17.6 MPX sensor, not 4K but 4K 4:2:2 with a different Bayer pattern. The image is essentially indistinguishable from 444/26.4 MPX. It's a six year old sensor, however, and now might be the time that it is "handed down" to a far more affordable camera. Considering that the sub-$2,000 GH5, A6300/6500, EM1 MKII and even the ancient NX1 are all capable of 5K+ readouts, having FS-5II going upscale shouldn't be farfetched. If it can send a Raw signal to an external recorder and do everything else FS-5 does for under $8,000, it will become the hottest seller in its niche.

And an instant URSA Mini Pro killer. Not that Sony gives a hoot about BMD.

PS. The other bandied about camera is A7SIII. If, it gets A6500 quality auto focus to go with what A7SII has, it will also be a super hot model. That 5D MKIV upgrade is coming at just the right time for Canon.

I was thinking... a rep telling a prospective FS5 buyer to wait for 4k 60fps and global shutter doesn't necessarily mean FS5II. Maybe it's the a9, which should be around the same price. A camera shooting 20 fps full-res RAW stills without buffering should also be able to do 4k 60fps, and might have a stacked sensor with global shutter. FS5II with those specs sounds too good to be true. a9 with those same specs but on the kind of body disliked by pro video shooters is not that farfetched: it allows them to have a higher-end offering without cannibalizing FS7II sales.

I love it when you talk about stacked sensors. Gives me the tingles.

Yes. There are also some Sony rumors, with a few already registered SKU's.

Since, we don't know about Sony's projected product map - it's possible to have both the updated FS-5 and a bunch of 8K cameras (a tweaked A7RII sensor) higher on the food chain.

In terms of global shutter, F55 has an electronic one, which can be passed down. Also, there's a possibility of some sort of a Tessive Time Filter device (a technology which Red allegedly uses for its "Motion Mount"). TTF runs $2,000 retail stand-alone and has for about half a decade. Sony's wholesale price would, naturally, be a lot lower. Or it could simply engineer something similar.

Leica has announced a new line of PL cine primes called Thalia. It's based on their medium format lenses and will be able to cover Alexa65 and Helium size sensors. And maybe of some other yet unnamed designs. No price released thus far but I guess it'll be somewhat higher than Rokinon.

May be someday they will produce a sensor size equal to a 5 inch mobile phone. There will be no noise. So DPs will try to spray some mud on the lenses to emulate filmlike noise. Good DPs will be judged by their mud spraying abilities to differentiate themselves from robots. Each DP will produce their secret fine mud concoctions. :)
