NAB 2017 rumors?

Hey,

Are there any NAB 2017 rumors? I am looking to upgrade to a cinema camera that shoots RAW (5000$), and can be mounted on my dji ronin m.
I read about a rumor of a canon c100 III, that might be interesting, if it has external RAW.

Any expectations?

Plenty of cameras already fit the bill. Black Magic Pocket Camera, for one.

Please make that a $2500 pocket II with the 4.6k S35 sensor. With bigger body (like that of an a7S or GH4), better screen, bigger battery, and keeping the m43 mount so I can use my speedbooster (mechanical E mount would work too, but I doubt that's an option). And shipping in about 6 months from the annoucement, which I think would be par for the course.

^That + IBIS and they will be king!

By the way they have a press conference tomorrow at 12 PM PST:

Hey, is that an 18-80 Allura in your (cinema) pocket or are you glad to see me?

They may as well just put the sensor and processor in the lens.

Crazy to think that the even with the servo grip the Canon 17-120mm is 4 pounds lighter in weight than that Alura 18-80.

Now that I have thought about this for half a sec ... instead of an interchangeable lens camera, might we see an interchangeable camera lens?

New top-end cinema cameras are expected from ARRI and Sony.

Apart from that, Canon might announce a C100 MKIII or if they are cheeky, some sort of C400.

Blackmagic will announce something, it will ship a year late and even then it will have issues that render it unusable on projects that have real money at stake.

Kinefinity will reassure everyone that Terra 5K will ship "soon".

I can't see Blackmagic ever offering a camera with IS. They still need to figure out how to implement an internal ND filter. There's room to charge an extra 20% on their Ursa Mini 4.6K, and with that increase, make sure to hit deadlines and nail QC. It doesn't have to be "better" than an FS7, etc. *and* $3,500 cheaper...

Something tells me that NAB will be a bit of a dud in 2017. Seems everyone kinda shot their wad over the last couple years and this will be a down year. Things were moving at leaps and bounds- I think this will be more of a "rest" year. A year of regrouping and re-assessing after what was a mad frenzy.

Could be, but to be honest, I thought last year was kind of a dud. Without all of the broadcast money NAB is kind of adrift in a sea of smaller vendors etc... What does Blackmagic or drone makers have to do with broadcasting? Anyway, it is still something we look to. Like every year, we all hope to see new and exciting products.

Blackmagic built its company from broadcasting, lol.

But I think last year was a dud too.

When I look at BM's product line, I do not see many broadcasting items. DaVinci is a cinema centric product. Their cameras are not broadcast related. The Atem line? Is that broadcast? Intensity? No big deal but they seem like a consumer company to me.

Lots of different stuff... https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products

They have 3 broadcast cameras - 4K Micro Studio, 4K Studio and HD Studio.

First cinema camera wasn't made until after they were already in business for almost 30 years.

Regardless, if NAB was only broadcast related, no one would go and no money would be made.

I am taking the name of the show too literally but my initial point was that the big camera maker names used to throw a lot of money around focused on broadcast centric gear. Us little folks would only get the cast off. It seems this has changed as the focus of the show highlights a lot more prosumer oriented products as the $25,000 2/3" camera bodies are just not the thing anymore. I did not mean to take away from BM if I am in error.
