Music video shot with FS700 + O7Q + Ronin

Thanks for sharing. I like the variety of shots but many seem like they were over exposed. The misty look like in the retail shop just looks like the lens is foggy rather than an effect to me. Some of the shots have the "S-log gray" look in the mids as well.
This is constructive criticism in the spirit of improvement! Rock on.

Hey Bassman, thanks for your comments. I agree with you that a lot of shots were over exposed. I made the mistake of applying a LUT on the monitoring and still ETTR. Can you explain what you mean by the "S-log grey" look?

Cheer

Andrew

When s-log comes out of the camera it has a very flat, milky gray look to the footage. I think this look can linger in the footage if not totally accounted for with the color correction. This look is somewhat fashionable today as it will appear from time to time in television commercials, but I just don't care for it. But my opinion is just one, and un-important as well!

Every opinion is valuable. It may or may not be something I change but it at least gives me something to think about when colour correcting. Thanks for your input.

Amazing work!!! eye love the look you provided. I feel like you exposed correctly and your images pop on my Retina display iPad mini.

I only looked on an iPhone and I know that it tends to clip a bit earlier than when viewing on computer monitors. I suppose maybe the white hat in the store and another shot I can't remember might be blown out, but with no-budget stuff you are forced into compromises of what you let go given the dynamic range of a scene.

Overall, fun video! I loved the vibe of the song. Loose and unpretentious. The video matched it very well. It has that community block gathering vibe that hip-hop was founded on...minus the sheep-skins and gazelles ;)

The pro mist helped the overall look, but potentially too bloomy on the hallation of some shots. But great job, keep it up!

Thanks for your comments Rafael.

I just checked out some of your stuff. Some really great work there. Love the twist at the end of the Boaz clip.

Hello -
I am thinking of getting the Ronin M3 axis to use with FS700 or FS100 - wondering what your experience was like and did you use the Ronin M with FS700.

thank you

Thank you Bosh - Beautiful and impressive spots - very well done. You did use the 7Q to record, correct? That is what I would like to do. I am pretty sure the M gimble will hold the FS100 - but there is not any 4K2HD. That is way I was checking on the FS700. Will look at BH and see if the original one is still on their site.
appreciate your help

Hi fatman, I always use the Rec709 out from convergent design as a starting point always and then just play with colour, contrast etc... I give each project it's own look so no specific approach other than always starting with the rec709 lut

I might have to go with the Ronin M 3 axis model. I did some research and with extension arms it will fit fs700 - of course stripped down. The only other Ronin that I found is Ronin 2 which for now it a bit much - eventually the plan is to get a A7RIII and replace my FS100 - the A7RIII should work well with it.

thank you

Let me know how you get on with the Ronin-m and fs700. I also have a ronin m as well as my larger ronin but the m seems too small to take the fs700 even with the extension arms. I'm all ears if you manage to do it and make it fly well though

I understand - if it cannot fit the fs700 then I will use FS100 and have to live with avchd - until I get A7RIII - besides, braking down the 700 during a shoot will take time - not good. I plan on using the 700 (if I can) only on dedicated shoot days for the ronin - again depending on what I am shooting and logistics.
anyway take a look at this - they seem say it will fit, but on practical infield use it may not work as you stated.
Thank for the info and help

This is very nice. I think is best footage I seen from FS700. Never thought much of FS700. But this looks very nice. What is your exposure method? I see so much ugly high lights with FS700, FS7, FS5 etc. But this looks nice.

Thanks for the kind words. Simply expose using the WFM on the Odyssey7Q with the Rec709 LUT on.
