Totally different devices (neither bad).

To me the nightmare is a director laughing at the back of the cam looking at a 7q while a struggle to focus on lutless log on the Sony EVF.

The other thing about the VF is the cable is too short. I tried an Amera at a show recently (big mistake) and I realised how critical shoulder balance is. You just cannot get balance with that short lead without stacking on rear countermass - it is just physics.

I was hoping for an Alexa Mini, but I think that might be too expensive as a colleague got an Amira that totaled $58K (without 4k UHD option). Arri has very different pricing for The Euro and the dollar. While the Amira is listed around 27,000 Euros, the USA price is $35k dollars which is insanely inflated over the current exchange rate. I wonder why that is?

So I might have to go the Dragon route in which case I keep the FS7 for smaller jobs and still be $10,000 under an Alexa. I do kind of like how with Red every 2 or 3 years you pay $10k or so and keep the camera current. I figure, over 10 years it ends up being the same price or even less than always buying the latest FS7, C300 II, F3, etc...
 
One serious problem with both the DP5 and DP7 ( unless they've fixed the 7 by now) is they don't carry the LUT to an external monitor. What is small HD waiting for on this - that killed my purchase of the 7.
 
And I would just like a bit more info on how loading / switching luts on the 502 (and then sending other luts out ) works.
