Monitor for focusing ect.

I recently bought a 10" monitor for my KissX4 Plugging in the hdmi did not work when in record mode. So I have to use analogue. Reading other posts with other cheap monitors the resolution does not fair much better with hdmi. So does it really make that much different on my 10" or smaller monitors. An analog television set has a resolution that can be stated equivalent to about 640×480. Which I assume that my one is. While other hdmi monitors boast hd often only output at 800x480. Unless you want to pay is it really worth it?

Yes it's the T2i. Outputs both hdmi and sd through the usb adaptor.

Nope, SD through the mini USB, HDMI via mini HDMI. With the US T2i, you can get HDMI or SD while recording - there's a slight pause when you hit record, but it works fine. Your monitor has to be in 4:3 mode; you'll get a reduced letterboxed sort of screen. Not optimal, and I find the best way to focus the T2i is with a magnifying hood. On a crane or with some crazy handheld rigs, I've used both lilliput-style screens and the little Marshall. The Marshall rocks pretty hard since you can calibrate it to bars with blue only and it's a top of the line LCD with great viewing angles and color. (But with the T2i, you need to calibrate it with something that outputs bars). With the T2i having a good histogram, you can generally get the Marshall set up so you know it's showing you a decent image via a camera with bars output or a PC with an HDMI card (matrox/blackmagic/et). I've found setting everything to midpoint is very close when you check it with blue-only.

So does it or doesn't it.

Edit : A PAL TV has a basic resolution of 720x576

t2i screen is very good. Even if you buy a Marshall it's still SD & highly marginally if there is any improvement on focusing... rather it's for FRAMING. And if you really actually need it, buy a 7D.

Well I suppose this answers my other question whether a 10 inch monitor is any good for hdmi vs sd.

My thoughts were that there would be little or no difference untill you get into the bigger monitors.
