"MODEL / PHOTOGRAPHER" - an ELOQUENT GRAFFITI prelude – a film by SABI

I am a fan as well, and while all your podcasts have had hints of Four Eyed Monsters, in the latest one, when you have yourself saying what the podcast is going to look like while we see it ("cast does intro, then titles, then cut to me"), it seems VERY Four Eyed Monsters.

That was a long sentence.

They let us in on the process of making the podcast, as do you. One of my favorite Four Eyed Monsters podcast moments is when Arin is trying to get his and Susan's heads to be the same size in the frame.

oh yeah! i remember that one. i like the one where Susan cant stop laughing and Arin's intro ends with "what's your problem?" i think its the first one. that moment probably endeared them to a lot of their first fans. Arin and Mike Hedge (who posts on reduser) asked me to be an editor on their new film, As The Dust Settle. sadly, it would have eaten up too much of the time I wanted to put into my own projects.

FEM had a similar effect on me. I love what they've done.

So cool to hear you have befriended them, Zak, as they seem like a couple of great people. -- Not to mention, experts at their craft.

Really looking forward to this one, Zak. It has been a real pleasure seeing you make great film, after great film. I'm glad you're not my competition this time around.

Great work on this so far! I'm really enjoying the podcasts...started laughing out loud at the "Mad footy bro..."

Keep it up!

it's killing me not to share the footage we shot tonight. we decided about three weeks ago that the film would begin around midnight on new year's eve based on something Mary Elise said about this being the time when so many people decide it's time for a change.

I can't wait for you to see Henry (Dusty Sorg) celebrating the new year in a crowd of thousands but essentially alone with fireworks blasting overhead and the confetti flying around and he's trying to feel good about it like everyone else he sees, but there's this weight dragging his spirits down and he can't help but to think of... her.

Awesome grabs, Zak! Looks like there's some stiff competition in this fest. *shifty eyes*

haha, really though, I'm excited about this fest and am really excited to see this film.

let me tell you the secret of that second grab: that's the shot I knew i wanted, and I knew I only had one chance (unless I wanted to wait until next year). so I spent a couple hours watching youtube videos of the same location (Universal Citywalk) from last new year's eve, trying to figure out exactly where the fireworks were launched from and where I could position myself and the actor in a crowd of wall-to-wall people to do that over the shoulder close-up with the lightshow blowing up in beautiful round discs of light. What was important for me was to know that they would go off without me having to adjust, re-focus and miss the first couple seconds. thanks to that planning, the footage I have is resting on a rear/sideview of the actor's face for the countdown and then everything just blows up in front of him in the frame. :)

Yes, today... I am very proud it all came together.

Curse you Forsman. you're making me really want the D90. Complain about it some more, please. Tell me how crappy the compression looks and it will never hold up, please tell me these things, so I don't run out and buy one tomorrow...

haha! the compression is crappy. it will never hold up. save your money.

seriously, I use the D90 because the advantages (can shoot with it anywhere), outweigh the bad (it should be considered an SD camera) why don't you hook up with dvpxl? he's got a D90 and he's a great shooter. his lossfest project fell through.

Well I am already hooking up with another DVXUser for this - to be announced shortly. But he told me he was going to try to reboot his.

Anyway, thanks. I agree the shooting anywhere is the real temptation of that little guy.

But I hope you got releases for all of those extras...:)
