Hey guys,
I wanted to show you this little mini doc I've been working on. We shot it on the C200, mostly raw with one shot in 420 8bit. Can you spot which one?

I really enjoyed this. I don't always watch video examples all the way through, but I did for this one. I thought it was very well shot and a really great way to introduce an abstract feel. Really nice choices with this one. Image looks great and video has vibe.

These are both excellent! Interesting subject matter, good locations, nice lighting and your sound design especially on the second one with the layering of his voice is really great. Are you making a whole series of these? Are the owners of the business paying you? Or are they purely for fun?

Hi End. I remember walking into the old Beverly Audio (not to be confused with the Beverly Hills Stereo), with the owner playing a Rush CD off a $7,000 floor sample Threshold amp that he wanted to move. Son of a gun, that was sound!

Thanks for the great feedback guys, made my day :)

We're doing these for fun and the store owners didn't pay us anything. We just wanted to develop a little series and highlight stores in town we find interesting. Just a way for us to have a creative outlet that doesn't fit in with a lot of the corporate work we're doing.

Just a bit more info on the gear:

C200 w. 2x512GB CFast
Contax Primes (35/f1.4, 50/f1.4, 85/f1.4, 135/f2.8)
Fog machine
Neat video noise reduction w. slight 4K grain

Keep up the good work, you have talent and a good eye for interesting stories.

These are awesome, really well done! Nice washes of light over the equipment @ Lotusland.

I think the main question I have is how you manipulated the light in that first video. It was fantastic and would love to hear some of your techniques to get that moving light source over the equipment.

Thanks for the extra info, I'll echo what everyone else has said and add that I'm super impressed. Would also be curious to know how you got those light beams in the first video – I'm guessing standing outside the windows and moving some RGB leds on light stands from side to side to emulate passing cars?

Some of the camera movement is really on point, too. Were you using a slider or dolly?

I dug these. I'll repeat what everyone else said about the car lights in the record shop piece. Really nice touch.

My only constructive feedback would be, in both pieces the interview felt very staged and lit, while the entire rest of the piece felt candid and seemed to be lit with mostly practicals. I would have liked to have seen them leaning against speakers or a pinball machine with that same light source. This was more noticeable with the ratios on the pinball piece.

I also think mellow car driving by SFX would have sold the headlights even more.

Nice work.

Absolutely loved both and as someone else said I also never watch user examples to the end. I did for these and want more.

I like the fact that you were able to tell these stories in about 2 minutes. Really enjoyed the subject matter, you packed a lot in there but it did not feel rushed at all. Images and editing all top notch mrchirster!

The car lights where done by 3 guys standing outside the shop with a 120d with a bit of gel and two tungsten Lowell pro lights. You're right, we should add some car sounds!
