Tried and it's not working. Once the firmware upgrading has finished the shutter will keep running over and over.

Edit: It seems working now. Just realized that I've to put on the lens lol

So what works ? Which options are there ? Is menu there ? Press garbage button
Can you test if zebra is visible on external monitor ?

Well, what I can see on the video screen are: sound level, lens data, and some ML info text. The menu isn't working (yes, i pressed the delete/garbage button already).

The worst parts: I can't record the video! and there are a lot of red square dots all over the screen.

Zebras? Hm.. didn't know that. Anyway, I signed up for the membership yesterday but it's pending. I'll report to the group ASAP =)

Edit: Here is what does it look like:

No... he's not joking... I think he just needs a better understanding of what ML does and perhaps even some reassurance.

There are millions of posts for magic lantern, from the 5d and now 550d, so I just thought the odds were good hes seen a lot of info by now.

Ok Im Pissed now.. If they get the 60d done and not the 7d Im going to Hire my own Sofware Guru.. naw Better yet Just get 5d.. man..... is it because the 7d has dual processors????

When I asked about ML's utility, I meant specifically for the 60D in its current state. No doubt ML is coolness dipped in pure awesome.

Regarding future features in magic lantern, I wonder:

- Can it enable 1920x1080 (24p) crop mode?
- Will higher bitrates lead to better footage? (from what I've read, not so much)
- Can it intercept the raw data stream and record greater color depth? (4:2:2, for example)
- Will it allow for greater customization of general workflow/functionality? (Button remapping, dfferent codecs, etc.)

Really it would be interesting to know where the progress is at. It would be good to hear at least some rumors that somebody is working on it :)

I would love to record 1280x720 on my 60D at 24 and 30 fps. That would just make my year.

If we look at what Magic Lantern is actually working with (the ARM processor of the camera) we unfortuatnaly learn that it can not (in its current form) effect the codec, framerates, cropping, etc because the ARM is not responsible for these tasks. The ARM processor is in charge of handling the buttons, menus, screens, etc of the camera while there is the DIGIC processor that is in charge of actually processing the imagery.

Also, 720p on these cameras is pretty rough in terms of aliasing and moire (even worse than 1080 because there are more skipped lines) so a better bet is just to shoot in 1080p and transcode down in post.

Great info. Thank you.
I shot a TV Commercial for Animal Planet yesterday on the 60D at 1080 (my first shoot with the 60D) and it looks really good. No transcoding.
The TV spot was sent at 1080 but the youtube version I downrezed it to 720.
You can check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIrHYd7eKl8&hd=1

And again, thanks for that info!

News:

Users from Cinema5D have offered to raise funds so I'll be able to get
a 60D and continue the development of Magic Lantern on this camera:
http://www.cinema5d.com/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=24384&start=520

At their request, I have setup a separate donation link for the 60D
and posted it on the wiki:
http://magiclantern.wikia.com/wiki/60D#Fundraising

This will not mean stopping the 550D development, but making a common
version of Magic Lantern for these two cameras (and the first step for
an unified ML for all supported cameras).
