Magic Lantern Firmware

Just tried F again and it shows the "REC buffer full" every time.

I also got a Movie Recording Stopped the first time recording when powering up in 3x mode.

edit - Can't get it to repeat though.
 
H - works fine in both 1x or 3x when using the Q to change. When I use 1x-3x shortcut "Movie Recording has been stopped" shows. If I switch back with the Q, it records again.

"REC buffer full" is gone
 
It shows "REC buffer full" every time... when you start recording, or throughout the movie? What does the bitrate meter show? (near the recording dot)
 
I get the "too many cropmarks" error every time I turn on my camera. Is this normal? I haven't installed any new cropmarks.
 
I just wanted to share something to see what your thoughts are.

I've had a t2i for about 6 months or a little more now. I used the camera for about 4 months unaltered, and found out about the ML firmware and the additional features (specifically the intermediate ISO choices) and wanted to give it a shot. Everything was fine at first, I shot a music video (part of one) with it. One the 2nd night of shooting, I was having some issues changing the ISO and shutter speed (it wouldn't change) so brilliantly I came up with the stupid idea of just getting rid of ML for that shoot. The smart thing would have been to have a card that didn't have ML on it, I could use.. but I didn't and stupidly I just "deleted" the files from the card in a computer. Even more stupidly, I didn't realize that this was very bad. After that, the camera would not boot up as long as the card was still in the camera.

So, I took the card out and being on location the only way I could format the card was in my H4N. So I did so, and the camera booted up.. I formatted again in camera and all was well for the rest of the night.

I didn't use the camera for a few months except for some vacation photos and some prom photos for my niece.

I picked it up to use it one day, and it again would not power on. I hadn't mistreated the camera, and I had removed ML (or at least I thought). I contacted Canon and got an RMA since it was still in warranty, but just as I was about to send it off.. it started working again. So I tried my best to clear it of anything other than Canon firmware to try to eliminate the issue. It worked for about a week, and then crapped out again in the middle of a shoot.. thank goodness we had a backup. Same thing, no power.

I tried multiple cards, multiple batteries, and as far as I could tell the only thing that had changed prior to my camera going haywire.. was ML and my botched uninstall. So I immediately started looking at that direction.

Well, not having figured anything out and being told by countless users that there hadn't been any confirmed bricked cameras due to ML. I sent it off to Canon, along with the battery and SD card, of which I formatted 2 or 3 times to ensure there were no traces of ML still on the camera.

A week or so later, Canon informed me that there was an internal issue and they were repairing it. When I got the camera back, I noticed that they'd sent me either a new or refurbished body, because it was missing some "marks" on it, that would have distinguished it as my original body... To my surprise when putting the card in my card reader, there were several ML related files on the card... what???!!!?

I've been hesitant to put it back on my camera since then, and I've thought about it, due to some of the extra features it provides.. do you think my issue was just a faulty camera issue, or something caused by my botching up the ML uninstall?
 
It was not caused by deleting autoexec.bin (I did that hundreds of times on my cameras).

Since you have used your camera a few weeks without ML, I think it was only a hardware issue.
 
So when will a version that can format and remain on the card reach "stable" status? I see it is still only in the experimental builds, correct?
 
I've been using the autoexec.bin dated 2011_09_26 on my T3i without any hickups at a bit rate of 1.2x for a week or so now and it's been great.

edit: just tried todays build and it's working great too

Hello I'm experiencing a weird problem. I'm using a September release (i don't know which one) and I was shooting a 4 minute picture with bulb function, when I finished the auto focus stopped working.
The camera gets AF/MF signal when I change the switch but half pressing the shutter button doesn't do anything. This happens with every picture mode but works in video mode!
I was using the kit lens but it doesn't work with other auto lenses either and even If I eject the SD so without loading ML.
What could it be? I tried to reset the settings but no luck.

I tried to install the latest ML but same thing.

If it helps I shot a lot of pictures with bulb and got always a code 70 or 07 error in the end but the autofocus stopped working only after the 4minute one.
PS: not the even the focus confirmation dots appear on the viewfinder during manual focus but they're not dead

BTW alex I'm still having the issue with the recording stopping after 1-5secs with x1.0 :( I don't understand why it seemed to work and now it re-appeared without changing ML settings or version! I would assume it's the SD card then but if I remove ML with the same card and start the recording it doesn't happen so how would you explain it? I get around 16MB/s on this card while writing files!

When there won't be any more major bugs. Right now (as far as I know), the only major bug left is HDMI compatibility.



For other issues, try this version (just fixed a critical bug which was around since March or so).

Alex do you know a way to shut off Magic lantern and turn back on, I want to use my Eye-fi card for photography , but Im running into a problem. Was wondering if there was a way to easily and stably turn it on and off.
