Magic Lantern Firmware

Currious if anyone else is getting the "movie recording has been stopped automatically" error when ever you switch between 1x and 3x on the 600d? Happens every time and I have to power cycle the camera to get it to record more than a few seconds when ever I switch.

I'm also seeing the focus peaking become a rectangle that doesn't find edges when going between 3x - 1x. A power cycle fixes it. It looks right when you switch from 1x to 3x until you try to auto focus by depressing the shutter half way then it also goes to a rectangle of blue dots across most of the screen rather than finding edges.

I'm a newbie to ML and couldn't find either of these issues mentioned either here or on ML Google groups.

Hi all,

Following this thread for a while, also having kiss x4, decided to give a try. It is working fine but I had the same issue while recording... "movie recording has been stopped automatically" with 22 august built. I replaced the autoexec.bin version from September , formatted the card and keep the ML....the message is gone.
I am also newbie regarding of the camera functions, nice and useful too for those who know how to use them. I must get into this because I like recording a lot. I used Sony DCR TVR-33E but is outdated.http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/143048-Help-required-for-capturing-from-Sony-DCR-TVR-33E
Anyway nice work, it involves a lot of knowledge in this field.

I formatted the card and still am getting the Movie recording stopped when I switch the zoom crop function.

What card are you using? Does it happen with GlobalDraw off? Does it help if you lower the bitrate a bit? (e.g. CBR 0.9x)
 
Hey Alex, thanks for getting back to me.

Using a Sandisk Extreme Pro 16gig. Still happens with Global draw off. Not sure it helps with a lower bit rate, but definitely records for a shorter duration before the "Movie recording has been stopped" message appears with a higher bit rate of 1.2 or more.

If I can test anything specific, let me know.

The video quality is pretty spectacular even to ISO 1250 !!!

Updated ML earlier this week, hadnt realized how much progress had been made!

I have a card that has been causing problems though, lost 1 great shot on it at my last gig when it got an error code while recording. Won't be using it again, had issues before but thought the re-formatting would solve it... guessed wrong. Seems to work fine until camera wont turn on or it throws an error code, managed to get all the previously shot footage off it fine.
 
c3hammer: can you test if it happens when you start the camera with shutter pressed halfway? ML will load, but it will be inactive.

natums: maybe I should think of implementing some kind of card test. I had similar problems with a USB stick a few years ago (it was changing one bit here and there... i.e. it was OK for copying pictures around, but not executable files).

If you can send me the defective card, it may help (contact me by pm for address).

2) you start the camera with ML but shutter pressed half-way, you change from 1x to 3x from Canon menu (because ML is inactive now), recording stops.
3) you disable the bootflag, start the camera from the same card, you change from 1x to 3x from Canon menu, recording does not stop.

Is this true?

true whether I change from ML shortcut or change 1-3x from Q with the ML shortcut off

The same card that is NOT bootable with all the ML files on it records fine when switching 1 - 3x back and forth.

A: Neither 1x or 3x record at all. 1 or 3x must be set through Q button.
B & C: Both 1x and 3x record fine. 1 or 3x must be set through Q button

F works but a "REC buffer full" is written for a few seconds on the lcd after starting after switching from 1x to 3x
G works but the "REC buffer full" is written for a few seconds every time and a very short "redraw" is written when you stop recording
