Only speculation, but I've been in that market: apart from the fact that it just looks like the CMV12000, there's no other alternative with similar specs! Unless it is a custom part (I doubt it, but it could be), it has to be the cmv12000.
But the raw2dng.exe doesn't work on files over 4gb in Windows, right? So current Windows users are still limited to 48 seconds raw even with a 1000x card formatted as exfat?
Squig,
Since you have the toshiba, do you think a faster card than a 1000x could still squeeze out a better performance out of the mkII? Like a sustained 1880x 1080, or 1880 x 960 ?
Ok, I ordered the Lexar, should be in tomorrow or day after. I think it's the most consistent and reliable of the bunch right?
what do you mean about komputer bay card? All rest are slower and the komputer bay are a great option if you want to be murdered by your cast, crew, clients, financiers etc...
I just hooked a Lexar expressCard CF reader up to my macbook with an internal samsung extreme SSD. It's recording a 4Gb file from a Toshiba 1066x card to the SSD in 28 seconds. That's roughly 142.8MB/s. A CF slot to external SSD option looks feasible and should make 720p 60p doable.

Why couldn't it be a Sony/Panasonic/Canon/Whatever sensor? Or some other company that the mainstream doesn't know about?
I mean, the BMCC was purported to have an sCMOS sensor made by BAE Systems, which a lot of people haven't heard about, or didn't know they made imaging sensors. But there was never any actual proof.
I have a hard time believing that BMD would use what is essentially an industrial camera sensor. It might be a CMOSIS sensor, but it might not be one of their off the shelf designs. It could be a custom design, CMOSIS as you know does do custom sensors, and it starts at around $750,000.
It could even be a case of using a pre-existing design of the CMV12000 and altering it such that it has better DR, but loses some other features, they have the capability. Leica used CMOSIS for a custom sensor in Sept of last year, so I don't see why BMD wouldn't.

This would be a much more viable option. Pretty easy to buy a second door for the 5D as well.
The thing is, the cost of 4 Lexar cards is already more expensive than a Ninja with SSD solution today.
So yes, someone needs to make a CF adapter.
However, by the time that rolls around BM will probably have invented an IMAX solution with universal mount and doggy doo doo scooper.
In fact now that I think of it, they themselves should come up with the adapter!
At this point only the linux raw2dng converts 4Gb+ files, windows 4Gb, osx 2Gb. It's only a matter of time.
They're rebranded lexar cards that didn't pass QC. I wouldn't trust them with a 10ft pole is what I mean. The last thing I want to be worrying about on set is whether or not my cheap and nasty CF card is gonna crap out on me. I'ts like driving in the snow with bald tyres, you just don't do it.
this is not what the Komputerbay guy said at all. somehow this has been morphed into this from my original post. What he said was the cards are made from the exact same components with a 20 percent vairance on QC. Meaning they are made with the same parts just with a 20 percent less effective QC at komputerbay palnt vs lexar. He never said that these were cards that failed QC at Lexar. Same exact cards just made by people who have a 20 percent higher chance of dropping the ball. They're rebranded lexar cards that didn't pass QC. I wouldn't trust them with a 10ft pole is what I mean.
