Letus Extreme rig photos

For anyone using a Firestore with their rig, what do you think about using this as a riser for the camera.

I like the Bebob Box a lot. However, for people with shoulder rigs, it might help to mount it on the end of the rig (with something like that from Switronix). This would be for balancing purposes, of course!

Has anyone successfully rigged together a Camera + Letus Extreme + Indifocus FF + Mattebox? ( Don't have any brands in mind, but i am curious to know what i can get that will work with this setup )

Nope I haven't done that- but here is my rig out on some projects- (I was shooting some stock footage for myself). And the last picture is of the HVX with the Letus Extreme and the RED 18 - 50mm lens. :)

I've been pretty busy as of late, so I'd better get back to work now..... Nothing like taking a break to check out what is going on at DVXuser.com. ;)

i guess the question is, can you mount a letus extreme, with a follow focus, and a mattebox on a single rail system? I have the cavision rails, and indifocus on the way, i would really like to add a mattebox for outdoor stuff.

god damnit!!! this is why you should never post on the forums after an evening of drinking!! i didnt mean cavision, i meant cinevate!!! i have the cinevate rails!! lol.

so once and for all, now that im sober... Is there a way to mount all three of these pieces with the cinevate rails? And which mattebox will work with the indiefocus FF and the letus extreme?

Ryan,

Do you like the indiSlider? Well made?

Pete

I like it, and I do think it is a good value. What I like about it most is that I can get a dolly move without having to setup a dolly- which is great for the stock footage that i shoot as most moves can be accomplished within the 24".

Supposedly the indislider is supposed to work in any weather conditions- it is built tough. But on one of the shoots I was out in rain, and I found that the indislider would stick from time to time. That was a little frustrating, as it meant that I had to do several takes to get the movement down. But other then that, I like it. It seems that the indislider works great if it is completely dry, like in a studio, or if it is completely wet- like in a heavy rain. But in intermittent / light rain it can get "sticky".

My order has been completed!!

My order has been completed!!

Yyess! My Letus Extreme has finally been ship (thanks Letusdirect.com)! Can't wait to try this baby on my HVX200... For those of you who are tracking these things, I ordered on Oct 26. So about 5 weeks of waiting. Not too bad, or in other words, about what I was expecting...

I'll post pictures of my setup (HVX200, Cinevate Rails, LEx...) when I got everything.

so, theoritically, could i not buy another one of the letus rail support things ( damn for my lack of terminology) and use that to lower a smaller set of rails underneath the first, which will give me enough room to mount a mattebox? Without a huge expense?

Hi PaPa:

Have you checked out the Zacuto Z-Riser? I would recommend that if you need to lower your matte box to line up with the rest of the rig. It's a nice piece of gear.

Dan

Dan,
Did you get your hands on it yet? I HIGHLY recommend Zacuto. I haven't checkout the Z-Riser because I don't have a flip capable 35mm DOFA, but I will definitely be looking into it. Zacuto also has a nice new support for the LEX that goes along with the Z-Riser.

Yes - in fact that would be my ideal cost-effective solution -

Here's what I did to raise my second set - same could be done to lower using Cinevate's rail blocks

Hi Joseph:

No, I decided to skip it for now. I have the Cavision extension kit for my Cavision rod base and with that, I can easily use the matte box. I know that Zacuto is better built but I still need to raise the capital to buy a monitor and that is over $2,000.00 and to me the monitor is much more important than better rails mounting at this point. Almost all of my work is tripod mounted so the top heaviness of the Cavision setup is fine, doesn't bother me.

Yes, I want an all Zacuto rig but at this point, it will have to wait until next year sometime.

Dan

I'm in the market for a Nebtek monitor myself.
I do have a full Zacuto rig and it is the best thing I've ever owned for camera use.

Unfortunately I have to take care of some serious costing home repairs with the discretionary income fund.

Someday I will join the Zacuto club!
