Hey everyone,

So I'm going to make a fairly big upgrade - going to buy my own 302 instead of borrowing/renting, and also upgrade the lavs on my wireless.

Is B&H the best place to get the 302? Keeping in mind that I live in South Africa, and not all international dealers will ship to me. I can pay by credit card.

Will the B6 or the COS-11 make me happiest? I know its a personal question, but keeping in mind that my work is largely "lav in shot" (maybe 66%) and a bit of hiding (33%), what will give me the best sound? If I go B6, what colours? I was thinking 1 black, 1 flesh, but what say you?

And lastly, I want to buy both lavs in the hardwired versions - I should be able to get a breaker put in the chain so I can use them wireless, right?

Well, timapter we almost live in the same place, i'd say B&H is quite a better place for you. I got my DVX100 and still planning to get another one from them, it was here in less than a week. I wont be able to answer your other question because i dont know what you're intending to do exactly

Tim,

I think you can guess my opinion on the lav-B6 all the way. If you're doing any hiding, the B6 is your best bet. You can go with a black and a tan colored cable, but you can also get multi-colored caps for fairly cheap. And, as I said in an earlier post, Countryman is just a great company to work with.

I've purchased a few things from B&H and while their prices aren't always the best, and their credit card validation process the first time out can be a bit of a pain, once that is done, they ship quickly.

yup, phil i sure do know your love for countryman! :) i have bought from b and h before, so validation and all isnt a problem.

Regarding the B6, im wondering - what wireless rig are you using? Im thinking I need all new wireless, Ive been using Sony UWP, but really hate it (breathing companding hiss very noticable).

So Im thinking I might switch over to the G2 as Lectro is too expensive for me right now, plus B&H have a decent kit option right now for two kits, with the plug Tx, and a pelican, and an Re50. But would the better sound of the COS11 help bump up the performance of the G2 a bit? Or not noticably from the B6?

what are your thoughts on the hardwire/wireless option i mentioned?

thanks phil

Hey Oleg,

Haven't seen you on-line lately...you must be working. ;-)

Have you had durability problems with the B6? The only problem I've ever heard about is when talent rips them off too fast and takes the head off the mic (have not experienced that myself...knock wood).

Thanks!

Phil
