Letus Extreme rig photos

Papa hi,

I see you have the FF indifocus, do you have the new model, how happy are you with it...I am FF shoping and trying to find out the best price performance FF outthere....I have an hvx200 and letus extreme, handmade rails that work great, and the last piece of the puzzle is a folloow focus system...

Pesie, that is a very nice setup, and im going for something similar.
things i would want different:

1) re orient the center of balance so that the base plate is more in between the letus and the camera lens
2) does the distance between the 35mm lens and the second set of rails allow for a mattebox?
Otherwise looks great.

1) The black thing below the camera and below the rails and tripod is one big plate, in which you can slide both tripod connector and camera-connector indepently forward and backward. However, with the setup you've seen, I can't move the tripod connetor any further towards the front. If you want to do that, use some additional plate/tripod connector.
The balance issue isn't bad with the set-up at the picture, I use a Vinten Pro-5 tripod, and it works okay for me.

2) Yes, it's possible. Using the Z-riser of Zacuto you can increase the height difference between the upper and lower rails, so that the Extreme is lifted more from the lower-rails to get extra space. No problem at al..

yeah, the new indifocus FF is great! no complaints really.

Got some really quick pics of my setup from last week before a music video.

Cavision plate and riser w/ Redrock Rods (still love my Redrock rods).
PL Mount
Cinetech FollowFocus
(Always forget the name of it) Mattebox
And of course LetusExtreme w/PL Mount -- Zeiss Standard T2.1 85mm

Pics taken with iPhone. Sorry!

The riser on the baseplate is a lil' wobbly, but I have found a solution to rectify that so that I can continue to use this setup until I get Letus Rails. :D

More pics to come with extra Redrock gear strapped to the LetusEx setup. The perfect combination.

I want to say the PD-1 but I don't think that's it. It was a lil more solid than the PD-1 I remember.

Looks like a Cinetech FF to me- exactly the same one I have. You might want to add another support runner on the rear of the Cavision riser. You'll find that one screw tightening the riser strips very easily as the light weight aluminum it's made of isn't very resilient.

Yeah it was a Cinetech. Was postin' this on the way outta the door.

That's exactly what I'm doing, adding another riser to the back of the Cavision plate to hold up the other side. That should do it and should correct all the extra swayin'.

I'd weld it together, but you never know when you might have to lower the rig or somethin', right?

Anymore Lomo footages, IanD? =DDD

I just used the mattebox riser that comes with the Cavision support. It simply screws onto the back- no problem. I ended up sawing off a good bit of metal to make it work in combination with my Redrock support.

:D Great minds. That's what I planned on doing here when I get my Extreme back.

OK guys, I just got a new adapter today. It was overnighted from Letus yesterday. Aaron was very helpful and they did their best to get me back on the road pronto. I knew they would stand behind their product and I was not wrong. They did.

Right off the bat when I turned o the new adapter I felt a lot more vibrations coming from it. it also lines up better with my HVX200... The GG also feels different, I cannot seem to be able to "see" it to dial the focus in ... Mmmm... Maybe it is smoother than the last GG I had on my previous unit? More on this in a few days once I have tried this new one.

Now back to filming with a shoot tomorrow and 2 more this week-end :).

Hi Matt:

Okay, you get the award for longest Letus Extreme rig known to man. How long is that setup? You must be 30, 35" long? Wow. Nice rig, just really long.

Enjoy!

Dan

Hi Dan,

Yeah its too long right now. I had to quickly set it up for an open house. I can make it shorter, by changing the double mount in the back to a single, and putting shorter rods up front too. Right now it is a bit much for the Sachtler DV-8....I may need to get that Sachtler Video 20 Plus I've always wanted for this rig.

Thanks buddy,
