Letus Extreme rig photos

i was just curious. I have actually seen people use the q-release (which is used for the shoulder pad mounting for center of balance) as a replacement for the Z-Riser that you're using.

No fancy shoulder shots for you then ehh?

I might get the pad eventually, I did notice on z's site that when its attached at one end it does look like it bends under the weight is that just an illusion? With the last setup in my pic, when you put the cam on your shoulder it feels more like youve got an XL2 or HD110 with easy access to aperture and focus, just need a monitor up front, maybe a grip on one of the rods and youve got a poor man's handheld rig, lol

with a tripod plate on the bottom of the baseplate adapter on my rig... it doesn't bend at all. I mean it is supporting a lot of weight.

do you see any bending with the Z-Riser?

No I dont, I just meant the photos of the shoulder pad when the rods it comes with arent attached at each end to something, when the shoulder pad is just attached on a second level by itself at one end of its rods.
Anyway heres another handheld rig keeping with the theme of this thread, works great without the adapter but with it too heavy up front even with the extra little weight in the back, it would have to be farther from the camera (like on a rod)...and we end up back in zacuto territory

I received my Zacuto stuff today, I attached it to my DVX100 and Letus35 Extreme. My first attempt resulted in the setup you find below, I found it not so front heavy as I was afraid of. The Zacuto material is rock solid and flexible, I'm really impressed with it's quality.
A follow focus of Redrockmicro will arrive within a couple of days, and I'm checking out matte boxes to make up my mind.

Thanks, Joseph. I have read a lot of these forum messages about rigs for the Letus Extreme, including your positive experiences with the Zacuto rigs and plates etc. After reading all messages and looking at the pictures, I went for Zacuto and am really glad with it.

i gotta be frank with ya, and laugh out loud. lol

how does one spend over a grand on an adapter, yet a cheapo camera? lol HOW? Even to replicate 8mm, at least get something that shoots a t 24 fps :p hehe. funny person you...

I have an EX1 on its way so maybe that will justify my purchace, hehe :D That shall my 16mm Bolex replacement then :)

But seriously if I would only have 1000 euros to spend on a cam I would rather buy a LEX and a 100 euro 2nd hand camcorder than any cam out there 1000 euros can buy. No question about it.

Im very happy with the result. Ive worked a lot with the PS Teknik Mini35 but i think this is much better. The Zeiss lenses are wonderful. Also the letus rod system is very solid.

Just got my extreme. Happy with it so far. Going to do some test shooting tomorrow. No more upside down dailies and upside down editing. Nice.

With some fedangling I got her to work on my M2 rails. The extreme almost looks like it was made for the HVX. It blends right in, unlike ol boxy box. The extreme is a little heavy, but I suppose all adapters with a flip solution will add a little weight.

For what it's worth, the Z riser type setup is not a good option for adapter use...particularly if you plan on using cinema lenses, a mattebox and filters. The rig will be intolerably front heavy. We've been outfitting rails for our users for quite some time now, and the balance issue was the number one complaint with our earlier setups. Flexibility is everything, particularly with all the the cameras being used with adapters these days...and the last thing you need is to be struggling with balance when racking focus etc.
